Swingtown” isn’t a perfect show. Many critics have complained about the uneven quality of its first few episodes, and it’s clear producers have been struggling to figure out some of the characters and plotlines.

But consider this bit of CBS history: Eight years ago, the network launched “Big Brother” in the summer. Despite bad reviews and disappointing ratings, the network decided to give the show another chance—and, in the process, launched an unscripted tentpole that still stands.

With “Swingtown,” CBS has found another possible summer staple—not to mention a golden chance to start evolving beyond its reputation as the crimesolvers channel.

Umm Julie Chen the host of Big Brother is sleeping with the head of CBS Les Moonves(They're married). Kinda not seeing the comparison. Even though CSI Swingtown does sound funny

Thanks again for the article Brian!

I think it could definitely be a summer staple if CBS hadn't given up on it by episode 2. With the right promotion, they could have done much better. If CBS does decide to give it another chance next summer, I think it could do very well as a summer staple.

I agree, all it needs is time. Something these network buffoons know nothing about.

Yeah, it needs time and a decent, permanent slot. But, what do I know - CBS was actually smart enough to schedule it against the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics, in the hour they did their highest ratings. Sounsd like a good slot to me
