Another reason why the show is "loosely based" is that Chris is the oldest of seven children, and his mother Rose also fostered 17 children. Could you imagine watching a show with that many children?

I love the show the way that it is. The second season wasn't great because it focused too much on Chris' school (where racism ran rampant), but the third season was great! My favorite episode was "Everybody Hates Easter", where Rochelle enters the church hat pageant with a homeade creation (pictured below)

OMG! I just saw that they are auctioning off a chance to meet the entire cast of Everybody Hates Chris on a set visit for a charity named Artists for a New South Africa on this site called Charity Folks. The link is www.charityfolks.com/ansa wish I could buy it but I'm broke as a joke! but just wanted to give all my EHC lovers the heads up.
