Default Cybill Shepherd falls for "Psych"

Link

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Cybill Shepherd will play the mom of series star James Roday in at least two episodes of USA Network's comedy-drama "Psych."

Shepherd's character is described as psychologist and free spirit. When she returns from Europe to visit Shawn (Roday) and ex-husband Henry (Corbin Bernsen), she stirs up memories and issues -- and a bit of trouble.

"Psych," in which Roday plays a fake psychic who helps solve crimes, returns with new episodes July 18.

Shepherd most recently had a recurring role in Showtime's lesbian soap "The L Word."

Talking

There is a reason why Cybill was cast. This from "Psych" creator Steve Franks:

Cybill Shepherd will portray the mom of Shawn Spencer
(James Roday) when "Psych" starts its third season in
July.

Shepherd will have a recurring role as a psychologist
whose free-spirited style helps explain the hero's
offbeat approach to life. Oh, and the casting means
that Shepherd also will play the ex-wife of Henry
Spencer (Corbin Bernsen). So there's some serious TV
nostalgia at work here when you have Shepherd, the
star of "Moonlighting" and "Cybill," cast as the
former spouse of an "L.A. Law" star. What fun.

In a release, "Psych" creator Steve Franks said he
drew inspiration for his show from watching Shepherd
and Bruce Willis act on "Moonlighting. " Franks' father
was a police officer who worked on the "Moonlighting"
set, and he took young Steve to work.

"In a way, the seeds of 'Psych' and my whole life path
were planted there on the set watching the terrific
comic interplay between Cybill and that other guy,"
Franks said. "I learned so much about the potential of
comedy within a mystery structure. To have Cybill on
our show is more than an honor. It's the best payoff
ever."

Viewers can judge for themselves when "Psych" returns
July 18 on USA Network.

What a lovely thing to say!
Thank you, Mr. Franks.

Where is Cybill's forum? I can't get in it, on it, or around it!
Is anyone else having the same problem?

for anyone unfamiliar with Psych, it is an AWESOME show - filled with fast paced action and humor, and as a fan of the show from the beginning I can attest that Cybil Sheppard is an EXCELLENT choice to play Shawn Spencer's wayward mom and I'm sure she'll make a great addition to an already awesome show!
