Writer and Nowhere Man Creator Larry Hertzog Dies at 56

TV writer and producer Larry Hertzog, who created the series "Nowhere Man," died April 19 of cancer at in Los Angeles. He was 56.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at Mt. Sinai Hollywood.

Born in New York, Hertzog attended NYU film school before moving to Los Angeles in 1977.

He started his career on the TV series "Kate Columbo" in 1979, followed by "Hart to Hart" in 1980. In 1984 he joined the Stephen J. Cannell team where he wrote and produced several series, including "Hardcastle & McCormick" and "Stingray."

With Cannell, he co-created the Dale Robertson series "J.J. Starbuck" in 1987. After stints on "Walker Texas Ranger" and "SeaQuest 2032," he created "Nowhere Man" for weblet UPN. The series starred Bruce Greenwood as a man whose identity disappears.

He went on to produce the hit NBC series "Profiler" for two seasons before joining USA's "Le Femme Nikita" as the showrunner for its last three seasons.

He also wrote for The Fox mega-hit "24" before joining the staff of the Vivica Fox series "1-800 Missing."

Hertzog ended his career as a producer and head writer on Sci-Fi Channel series "Painkiller Jane" in 2007.

He is survived by his wife Karen, his mother and a brother.
