John Bliss (Mr. Pickering) Dies at 77

Actor John Bliss died Feb. 28 in Los Angeles of complications related to an abdominal aneurysm. He was 77.
Bliss appeared on stage and television and in features including the Coen brothers' "Intolerable Cruelty," Terry Zwigoff's "Art School Confidential," Elisa Kazan's "A Face in the Crowd" and Arthur Penn's "The Miracle Worker."

He was also seen in cult horror pic "The Thing With Two Heads" starring Ray Milland.

More recently he appeared on Disney Channel's "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" and "Out of Jimmy's Head" on Cartoon Network.

He was a recrruing character on "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" and appeared on series such as "My Name is Earl," "Joey," "Father Murphy" and "Dallas."

Bliss was active on the Los Angeles stage, and was a 20 year company member of Peggy Webber's California Artists Radio Theater. He was also a longtime member of the Masquers Club.

He began his acting career as a child, touring with his mother and father who were also professional actors. As a young actor in New York, he appeared in live TV dramas on "Studio One," "Playhouse 90" and "Kraft Theater."
