LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - A two-hour episode of "Las Vegas" two weeks ago was almost certainly the series finale, but that's not stopping a conservative watchdog group from launching an indecency campaign against the light drama.
The Parents Television Council has filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission over NBC's broadcast of the "Vegas" season conclusion on February 15. In the episode, three shadowy naked women are shown on a casino's security monitor. "Their buttocks are visible, and only shadows obscure their breasts and groins," the PTC said in a statement Friday. "Vegas" has ceased production. Oddmakers give the show little chance of returning next season, but PTC president Tim Winter said his organization isn't concerned with impacting future episodes anyway. "This has little to do with the show and everything to do with a network that's trying to establish what the newest level of nudity is for broadcast television," he said. NBC declined comment. Last week, the PTC went after another modestly rated primetime show, calling on advertisers to boycott CBS' airing of the Showtime hit "Dexter." Winter said he has received supportive calls from some advertisers pledging not to buy ads on the show but that previously committed sponsors have not dropped out. Reuters/Hollywood Reporter |
