Default What Happened

What happened to all of the cast members of room 222? Hope they are all alive and had successful careers.

Unfortunately, Lloyd Haynes died of cancer on Dec. 31, 1986. He was only 52.

He was on some soap opera after the show ended, but of the 4 main players he did the least stuff in the entertainment industry. Michael Constantine who played the principal was in My Big Fat Greek Wedding a few years back - Room 222 was about as big a gig as he was going to get since he's a true character actor and not a leading man. Denise Nicholas is well respected in the black acting world (she came from the theater). If she still goes up for parts she'd be in competition with people like Phylicia Rashad and the woman from Law and Order and a handful of others. Karen Valentine seemed earmarked for comedy. I can't picture her in any kind of really dramatic role, which may be why she's faded from view. Denise Nicholas was the most versatile of those 4 and her extended body of work speaks to that.

As for the students Eric Laneuville has gone the furthest in the entertainment world as far as I know while others like the guy who played Jason seemed to have quit that industry altogether soon after the show ended. Wonder what it is like for those people who quit acting to be out someplace and have someone come up out of the blue and say, "Aren't you the guy who used to be on that show" or "I know I know you from someplace...' Alot of the time those people just want to be left alone.

Judy Strangis has done much voiceover work in cartoons (Roman Holidays, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kids, Wheelie & the Chopper Bunch, Batman: The Animated Series). She was also seen as Dyna
Girl, sidekick of Deidre Hall's Electra Woman on the Saturday morning series
produced by Sid & Marty Krofft. And I recall she guested on The A-Team once.

She basically quit being in front of the camera because of some psycho stalker who wouldn't leave her alone. Too bad, she was really gorgeous.

Bernie, who played the red-headed guy is still alive. Here is some info on him:

http://www.what-a-character.com/cgi-...i?id=982804806

Also, I just copy and pasted my post from another thread where we discussed Room 222:

I remember watching it and as young as I was, I liked it. It made me want to go to college and have fun. I really liked the red-head guy Bernie. Many famous actors made appearances on that show. Bernie, I ended up finding out back in 1987 that he was working as a production assistant on The Arsenio Hall Show. When my first husband and I went to a taping of the show, an hour before it started Arsenio came out and introduced each person that worked on the show. He then brought out this red-headed guy and asked if anyone recognized him. No one did. Then Arsenio told us to look at the monitors and watch. They started playing the opening sequence of Room 222. When they got to Bernie, they stopped it right there and everyone laughed and applauded. I couldn't believe it. He no longer had that afro, but he was still really red-headed and he was talking to us and making us laugh. He really is a funny guy. I guess his character and him are one in the same person.

What a great story Irene. God I sure hope Room 222 comes out on DVD!
