This my new favorite cartoon on Boomerang. My favorite character is Mr. Boyle. He reminds me a mello Archie Bunker (without the racist comments, but still the same attitude towards the politically correct world) Anybody else watch or have watched this back in the day?

I've only seen the pilot, which aired as a segment of ABC's anthology comedy
series LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE. The Hanna-Barbera cartoon, which began as a series in first-run syndication in 1972, was definitely patterned after CBS's hit ALL IN THE FAMILY. Like the latter, Harry Boyle (Tom Bosley) was a traditional father who was out of step with his comtemporary youngsters. Actually, it was one of two 1972 cartoon series that was a takeoff of the Bunker family: the other one was THE BARKLEYS, a Saturday morning series on NBC produced by DePatie-Freleng, in which all the characters were dogs. |

I thought Tom Bosley voiced Harry. Thanks for the info.

The 1st episode I've seen was when Alice wanted to lose weight. I seen it a few months ago but I barely remember it.
I like all the characters but sometimes the mom, kids and the next door neighbor get on my nerves. The neighbor thinks everything is a conspiracy, the mom and kids are clueless. Harry is the only sane one, IMO. |

I found some pix on the website http://mywebpages.comcast.net/csmiths/carcartoon.html from an
"ultra-rare Car 54 cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera in 1972. There were a total of eight of these made. They were part of another cartoon show entitled 'Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home.' Joe E. Ross did his own voiceover [as Officer Toody]." Has anyone seen this show-within-a-show? If so, who does Muldoon's voice? Just curious. |
