...I know that the episode that became the pilot for THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW is on it. But, is it unedited? Because I heard that, when the episode's shown in sydnication, there's parts cut out.

Why did they start with season 5 on dvd and not 1?

some explained why in another post-it's because Danny didn't want the first 4 seasons to be seen again; I forget why. So his family's fullfilling his wish.

Two reasons why they started with the fifth: the show never became a big hit until it moved to CBS for its fifth season, so those episodes are the most familiar to viewers (the cast was a little different in the earlier seasons). Also, Jean Hagen, who played Danny's first wife, had a small percentage of ownership in the early episodes, so if they syndicate or release the episodes in which she appears, they'll have to share the revenues with her estate.
