while "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is the logical 00's Seinfeld, since it was created by the same guy (Larry David), it's technically cheating so I'd exempt that from the list even tho I really do like that show as well.
It's dawned on me the more I watch the show that with all of the shows that have played the "We're the new Seinfeld" card, Corner Gas is the only one that seems to really deliver. Brent is very much the Jerry of the ensemble, and the intertwining storylines, distinct music score, "no hugging, no learning" situations, character interactions, etc... reminds me a lot of Seinfeld, which is a really good thing. It accomplished on many levels what a lot of shows have tried to do but failed. Plus, unlike the Seinfeld wannabes, Corner Gas managed to be something, a key element that only Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm has succeeded at being: FUNNY. |

I never thought of the comparison to Seinfeld, but now that you have pointed it out, I can surely see it. CG is definitely unique, as was Seinfeld. CG is a small cast. It doesn't rely on big name celebs to star on the show.
The several storylines that we are presented in each episode are done in such a way that they don't drag on. The current show PUSHING DAISIES has a narrator on the show who feels the need to tell the audience exactly what they are watching, apparently viewing the actors doing something isn't enough, you must be told as well what is playing out. CG has those "quick takes" where we are shown something real fast to help tell the story.

It's been compared to Seinfeld for years, up here in Canada , mind you, other than the stories not really having a "point", i dont really see it
![]() I would like to see the relationship between Brent and Lacey heat up a bit...not to the point of kissy-mushy, but, at least to the point where you KNOW they love each other "deep down", at this point, it's suggested , but, you never are totally certain about it< Which works ok, but, gets kind of tedious after awhile |

The show Bernie Mac did those quick takes too. I love Bernie Mac. It is also unique and had its own style of telling a story.
