Default Tattoos

i'm thinking about getting one. a broken heart on my inner wrist, nothing too big. it's for emotional reasons and i've felt this way for a long time, although i'd want to wait between a few months and a year before i go through with it. anyway, can anyone with experience tell me about it, how much it hurts, how long it takes, how much it costs, (although i know it all depends) or some further advice?

Honestly? It feels like a sharp pen that's jabbing you repeatedly. As long as you don't have a crazy amount of lines or too much color shading, it doesn't take very long to do the outline. I got a small tattoo on my left arm in March, and it took about 20 minutes because it was just black ink... that was with a three-minute breather, so less than 25 minutes.

The pain factor depends on your pain tolerance and how thin the skin/muscle is on the spot you're getting tattooed because when that happens, the needle will be pretty close to your bones. If you get a tattoo on your shoulder blades or ribs, it's going to hurt like a bitch since there's not much muscle covering the bone. Since you'd be getting one on your inner wrist, it won't be too bad.

Advice... ask the artist if you can take a breather every now and then when the needles get to be too much Altho the artist might ask you that beforehand anyway... but it doesn't hurt to ask in case they forgot to.

Do a lot of research into tattoo artists. Many of them have bad reputations or are not all that great. Ask friends who have had nice experiences and what they would recommend. You'd hate to have a mistake branded on your skin...

Also. If it's going to have a lot of color, expect that you'll have to have it touched up later in life.

I had a tattoo done on my inner wrist. It really didn't hurt at all. It does feel like constant pinching, but it is noting that'll hurt too much.

I have nothing against tatooes but the one thing I think you might think about is the location. Even though it sounds like it won't be very big, some businesses don't like tatooes to be visible. So if you ever get a job that is like that they may require you to cover it up while at work. Maybe one on your ankle would work better.

I got one on my lower back in March and I love it. One of the best decisions I ever made. I'm not going to lie though, it did hurt. I have a high tolerence for pain, but this kinda hurt. I didn't cry or anything, but my knuckles were white from gripping the chair, lol. Mine is pretty big though. It took him 2 hours to do it and it cost me $200, but it was worth it. I have to warn you, they are addictive! I can't wait to get another one! Here's a picture of mine:

Allison is right. ^^^^ If you really want it, the pain is not an issue. Just be sure it is what you want and that if a broken heart is what you are feeling right now and have been for a while, is that the feeling you will be having say, in ten or fifteen years? Remember, emotions and feelings change, so think twice abt where you are going to put that tattoo. I have two tats but they are not visible. Also, I have no regrets abt what I had tattooed and don't see a change in the future abt my feelings.

It hurts but the pain is not unbearable after about 10 mins you adjust to the pain. Get a good artist, there are some crappy ones out there, ask to see their work. You'll be fine.

I have a few and for me, the most painful one to get was on my ribs. Anything on the bone is going to hurt more. Like everyone said, do a lot of research. Check out the shop to check for cleanliness before you get it done. I have to fairly large tatts that took about 1 1/2-2 hours and they each were between 180-250$ so they can get quite expensive. Just think it through to may sure ur ready.

thanks for the responses. the more i learn about it and think about it, the more i want to get it done, even in my brightest moments. it's not as much to express how im feeling at the time as it is to express how i feel about an experience (or rather a series of such) that changed me and my life. still, i think i'll wait at least a few months or so before i decide on it.

I have never had one. I am not interested in getting one. For me, I go by the motto, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". However, that is just me. What you do is your business. I hope that your heart does not stay broken.
