When Alice was given a tip by the Union guys, she put the tip in a jar with other money. Did the waitresses share tips???

Yes. Can't remember which episode(s) but it was mentioned/shown that they do put the tips in a jar.

Yes sir. They split it three ways. But what I don't get is why Alice wears that red purse around her waist. I assumed it was for tips.

There was an episode a few weeks ago where Vera had divided the tips into 3 piles, then put 2 back in the jar, and she took the other pile (I think that's the one where she put her purse in the fridge...because that's the last place a robber would look for a purse

)

It's just amazing that FLO was the only one with drive and ambition-lol The fact that they had to share tips and was paid nothing an hour, Alice and Vera never made any attempt to improve their life financially. Just pitiful-lol

Alice tried to improve herself. She tried to become a professional singer.

Working as a waitress for 9 years and over 30 showed she wasn't agressive enough in getting out of there-lol She only left because Mel sold the Diner Right?

Well, she came in with Jolene, and they were gonna give their big news to Mel (who hadn't told them yet he was selling the diner. I think he had only told Henry at that point)...one of those "last episode moments" where everything happens just at the perfect time so they can end the series
