Default MAD TV to be axed???

From Variety:

The renewal of ["Talkshow With Spike Feresten"] makes it more unclear if "Mad TV" will be back. Buzz (including some from inside the show itself) centered earlier this year on if the sketch comedy would bid adieu. That seemed unlikely, as Fox didn't have another show in the wings to pick up "Mad TV's" slot.

But should both sides fail to come to terms, it's possible "Talkshow" will be asked to take over the "Mad TV" spot.

"Mad TV" vet Artie Lange, currently sidekick on Sirius radio's "THe Howard Stern Show," is in discussions with the Fox Network on hosting a show that would follow "Talkshow."

wow, i like how you took this article and left part of it out to make it sound like MADtv was definitley being axed...

anyway, pretty much all of the articles are stating that FOX is in talks with the producers to bring it back, so something is telling me it'll be back. why the eff would they bring Talkshow back and not MADtv when MADtv gets higher ratings then Talkshow?

I sincerely hope MadTv is renewed for next season... I watch it every Saturday night and I prefer it to SNL these days!

Default Mad TV second best.

Mad TV shouldn't be compared to Saturday Night Live. There is a big difference. Mad TV is more like a Benny Hill or SCTV. Nothing on TV is like SNL. I don't think it takes as much work to film something take after take. SNL has all it's bloopers on air. Mad TV should be preserved though. It has it's moments and is enjoyable when SNL is rerunning. Never give up on SNL...Sorry that's just my opinion.

i like SNL, especially the episodes from 1995-2000, but it's not even comparable to MADtv for me...MADtv is just hilarious and much funnier then SNL IMO. also while SNL is at an all-time low, MADtv is at a high point right now.

i like SNL though but MADtv is amazing

BTW, the title of this thread should be changed cause it's misleading

Even though I don't think it's quite as funny as it used to be, I would much rather watch a new season of MADtv over current SNL any day of the week.

i agree, although i think MADtv came back from a bit of a slump this season...it was almost as funny as the older years for me (even better then some of the weaker earlier seasons).

present-day SNL isn't gawd-awful, but it's..."meh".
