Default F TROOP -- THE MOVIE

My name is Bobby Logan and I am a feature filmmaker. Most of my movies are comedies, including the exorcist spoof "Repossessed" starring Leslie Nielsen and Linda Blair, and "Meatballs 4" starring Corey Feldman.

I am now in the process of getting a feature film version of "F TROOP" made. My partner and I have purchased the rights to do so, and I have completed a screenplay.

If you'd like more information please go to my web site:

www.Bobbyworks.com

CLICK the "My Projects" tab and you will find much more information on the project.

Cool idea, I think. Depends upon the script as well as the cast. Hopefully the film will not depart a great deal from the original show.

This is a great idea but the actors MADE the show so it's going to be hard to recreate the comedy the show had. Larry Storch would be almost impossible to replace since he was so funny as Corporal Agarn (sp.?).

Ken Berry would be hard to replace too but the other major characters could be replaced but some of those soldiers were very funny too like the blind one so he could be hard to replace!

Is there any way Larry Storch could still play Corporal Agarn??? I know he's older now but with the magic of Hollywood he could look younger!

Don't know whether Larry would want to go through it all again. Losing his wife to cancer in 2003 must have been hard on him. I agree that it was Larry who made the show. Larry's timing was always faultless. I'm not saying that there is no one like him....only that I've never seen anyone like Larry.

It would be great if Storch could get some kind of cameo role at least.

Every now and then, an "Inspector General" would come to Fort Courage and inspect the troops. Maybe Storch could play a part like that. He could talk to Parmenter about how he used to serve at Fort Courage (he doesn't even have to refer to Agarn, as someone else would be playing that part in the movie).

Then he could talk to whoever's playing Agarn, and tell him that his days as a corporal at Fort Courage were some of the happiest days of his life, and if he (Agarn) works hard, he too can rise to the rank of General....

Yes, Larry MADE F Troop. It's kind of like what John Ritter was to Three's Company.

Leslie Nielsen is around 80 and he's not just acting but he's had some of his best roles ever in his late 60s and 70s.

As long Larry is still ambulatory and can still walk around he could do something. Some elderly people look a lot younger than what they are. If Larry looks to be in his 60s and still has some energy he could still play Corporal Agarn since there are older men in the military.

I know it's unlikely but he's so good you can't imagine an F Troop movie without him.

Very true.

It would be great if the producers could offer cameo roles to the surviving members of the original TV cast that are still able to get around.

Larry Storch just turned 84 on January 8.

Melody Patterson turns 58 this April (she was only 16 when the show began)
Ken Berry turns 74 in November.
(maybe they could play a married couple).

James Hampton (Bugler Dobbs) turns 71 this July.

Don Diamond (Crazy Cat) was born in June of 1921, and turns 86 this year. (appears to still be alive, IMBD does not list a date of death, and Wikipedia has no info on him).

Some of the cast, of course, are no longer with us:

Forrest Tucker passed away in October of 1986.

Bob Steele (Trooper Duffy) passed away in December 2002 at the age of 91

Frank Dekova (Chief Wild Eagle) passed way in 1981

Edward Everett Horton (Roaring Chicken) passed away in 1970 at the age of 84.

Joe Brooks (Vanderbilt) is still alive also to the best of my knowledge.

Sorry about the looooong delay in replying to everyone's various questions. But, now that I'm here, let me try to answer a few.

First off, Tweety, I'm glad you liked "Repossessed." Thanks. I had a blast making the film, believe me.

Regarding the "F Troop" screenplay, I promise everyone that it will hold very true to the series and ALL of the characters.
And that it will be VERY funny and full of comedic action.

Regarding cast, well, I have yet to get the film financed and, as such, the money people would definitely have "input" on casting. I can, however, tell you all who my # 1 choices would be on several of the lead characters:

Agarn -- Jack Black
Wilton -- Topher Grace
Wild Eagle -- Graham Greene
Vanderbilt -- Judah Friedlander

Anyway, you can keep up with my progress on the movie at my web site:

www.Bobbyworks.com

Or email me at: Bobby@Bobbyworks.com

Best,

Bobby Logan

Grahm Greene would be PERFECT as Wild Eagle!!

For those who don't know who Graham Greene is, he's an indian actor who played an indian friend of Bret Maverick in the big screen version of "Maverick" (a great film) in 1992 or 93 (whenever it came out).
