'kay, along with a gazillion other stories, I'm working on a seqeul to "I Don't Know Why I Love You but I Do" which was a sequel to "All is Confusing in Love and War".
I'm like on the fourth chapter and I'm having trouble keeping the Professor (of all people) in character. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I think it's 'cause I gave GI up for lent so I haven't seen it in over a couple of weeks... and anyway, it's kind of funny this scene. but then i reread it and was like, "ew. the professor is really mean in this scene."But, lol, need your support guys and dolls! (i'm a nerdy freak for old musicals) here's chapter one anyway! FEED BACK PLEASE!!!! I NEED FEEDBACK! Chapter One: A more beautiful day the Skipper of the ill-fated Minnow doubted he’d ever seen. A pleasantly warm breeze blew gently, rustling the tropical greenery rhythm. Fishing was actually very enjoyable and relaxing on days such as this. He reeled in his line and re-baited it carefully. It was amazing, he thought, how much everything on the island had changed. Why, he was in fact the only single castaway, what with his little buddy and MaryAnn getting married and now the Professor and Ginger. He didn’t really mind it really, it was just, well different. Whistling the tune to a song he couldn’t name, he cast out his line again. From behind him, he heard someone start whistling with him and turned around to see Ginger walking towards him. “Hello Ginger,” the Skipper said amiably. “Hi Skipper. Catch anything yet?” she asked. “Oh, nothing but minnows so far.” “Well, keep trying; there’s always a bigger fish,” she encouraged as she sat down on a rock next to where the Skipper was standing. “Could I ask you a question?” “Sure Ginger, go ahead.” “Well, um, Roy’s birthday is Friday and I was wondering if you could help me put together a surprise party for him.” “Why certainly, but may I ask why you’re coming to me for help?” “Well, I would as MaryAnn, except that, well, she’s going to have her baby any time soon and also, if I ask her, she’ll probably tell Gilligan, well because they’re married. Or I could ask Mrs. Howell, but, well, she’s not very skilled at keeping surprises, well surprises,” Ginger said with a smile. “And Mr. Howell would tell Mrs. Howell if you asked him. Well, sure.” “Okay, thanks. I’ve got to get back to the supply right now; I’m supposed to be collecting something for an experiment.” “Alright, how about we meet down here after dinner to start planning,” Skipper suggested. “See you then,” Ginger said as she walked back to the supply hut. On her way back, she gathered the items Roy had specified to collect. She opened the door with one hand while carefully balancing the supplies for the experiment in the other. Roy was bent over a small table cluttered with test tubes and gadgets fashioned from island materials. As quietly as possible, she set the materials down on a crate and sneaked up behinds him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and whispered into his ear, “Guess who?” “Oh hi honey. Did you find everything?” he asked, not looking up from mixing test tubes. “Yeah. I found everything except, um, the leaves off of a loodooboodoo-something or other plant.” “Oh well, that might be located on the other side of the island.” “Oh really…” she purred gently, running her finger up and down his cheek bone. “Ginger… I, I c-can’t concentrate when you’re doing that…” “To bad; don’t concentrate then.” Roy set down his test tubes carefully then quickly he spun around, put his arms around Ginger and said in an overly serious and cross voice, “You are stubborn.” “And you aren’t?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. “I’m just worried about you; you’re always so tense when you’re doing an experiment, you need to relax a little.” “Is that so?” “That is very so,” she replied, tracing his lips with her finger. “There you go distracting me again,” Roy murmured. Ginger laughed lightly, “Oh, you’re not distracted yet.” “Hmm,” he said, kissing her for a few seconds. When their lips parted, he asked, “How about now?” “Not quite distracted enough,” she replied, leaning in to kiss again. This time, their kiss lasted a good bit longer and they were a little breathless when it ended. Their foreheads touching, Roy asked, “Well… am I distracted now?” “I should say so!” MaryAnn answered, causing Ginger and the Professor to jump. “I hope I wasn’t interrupting anything…” “No, no, of course not,” the Professor said quickly, a bit embarrassed that they hadn’t noticed MaryAnn a little sooner. “Of course not, I was just helping him with an experiment,” Ginger stated innocently. MaryAnn shook her head in mock un-amusement and sighed, “Newly weds.” “Oh, don’t you ‘newly wed’ us. We haven’t been married much less time than you and Gilligan,” Ginger said. “We still have a few months or so on you two,” MaryAnn argued cheerfully. “Oh, well is there was something you needed help with?” “Yeah. Could you do the laundry for me Ginger? I’m feeling a little tired,” a very expectant MaryAnn asked. “Sure MaryAnn. Do you want me to do anything else for you?” “No, that’s alright. I just need to sit down for a while.” Ginger followed MaryAnn outside then headed off to do the laundry. Meanwhile, MaryAnn went back to the hut she shared with Willy to rest. Not five minutes after she’d sat down, Willy burst through the door. Panting, he exclaimed, “There you are MaryAnn! Are you alright? I asked the Professor where you were and he said you weren’t feeling good and you came back here.” “I feel fine Willy, honestly; I’m just a little tired that’s all,” MaryAnn assured him. Willy sat down next to her and took her hands in his. “Are you sure? I mean, are you going to have the baby today?” he asked softly. “No… I don’t think so,” MaryAnn replied, resting her head on his inviting shoulder and slowly closed her eyes. “But maybe in a few days definitely. Willy… I’m so nervous…” “Don’t be nervous MaryAnn. Everything will be fine,” he assured her, gently stroking her head. “I hope so,” she mumbled sleepily. “Willy, do you want a boy or a girl?” “I don’t really care as long as you and the baby are healthy and happy.” “I’m glad I married you…” “Me too.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dinner that evening was enjoyable and pleasant. Everyone was excited with the prospect of soon having an edition to their little community. They finished the meal and went their separate ways. “Do you want to take a walk?” “Well, I’d love to; but I told MaryAnn I’d do the dishes tonight,” Ginger replied. “Oh, okay. I’ll see you when you finish then. Do you want me to help?” “Oh, no, that’s okay, it shouldn’t take to long.” “Okay,” he said, as bit confused as to why Ginger seemed reluctant to have his help. Ginger quickly did the dishes then headed down to the lagoon to meet the Skipper. “Oh, hi Ginger,” the Skipper said as she appeared out to the jungle. “Hey Skipper. Sorry I didn’t come down sooner; I had to finish doing the dishes,” she explained. They thought up plans for the Professor’s surprise party for the next 20 minutes or so until Ginger noticed how the time was slipping away rapidly and announced, “Oh geesh. We’re going to have to finish planning tomorrow or something. Roy will wonder why it’s taking me so long to wash the dishes.” “Alright goodnight.” “’Night.” They walked away in separate directions to their huts, and Ginger couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for the Skipper. It was to bad there wasn’t another woman on the island for him, even if he insisted he was a single kind of guy. He really was a good guy, and she knew it wasn’t fun to be alone in a hut at night. She was so glad she had married Roy… |
