Default AmericanLife TV January 2007 Highlights

Classic TV highlights on AmericanLife TV Network in January include ‘Combat!’s Pilot Episode, Emmy-nominated episodes of I’ll Fly Away and Homefront, and guest appearances by The Beverly Hillbillies’ Jed and Jethro on Maverick and 77 Sunset Strip.

- The American Family takes hold Sundays on AmericanLife, with several honored episodes of I’ll Fly Away and Homefront highlighting January’s schedule:
Sunday, January 14
* Rosanna Carter received an Emmy nomination for her guest appearance in the “What’s In a Name?” episode of I’ll Fly Away (9-10 p.m. ET/PT).
* I’ll Fly Away is preceded at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT by an historic anomaly: an episode of the sitcom The Courtship of Eddie’s Father, which features astronaut L. Gordon Cooper as he prepares for the Apollo 13 mission, later chronicled by Ron Howard in the movie of the same name – but with nobody playing Cooper. After filming this episode, Cooper was replaced on the flight roster and never went on the problem-plagued flight.
Sunday, January 28
* The “State” episode of I’ll Fly Away (9-10 p.m. ET/PT) received an NAACP Image Award in 1995.
* I’ll Fly Away is followed by an episode of Homefront (10-11 p.m. ET/PT) which received an Emmy nomination for best writing. In the show, Gina (Giuliana Santini) has painful memories about her persecution by the Nazis when she was a lacemaker in a concentration camp.

- Private Eyes hold forth Mondays on AmericanLife, with January’s schedule featuring guest appearances by cult favorites, highlighted by two early ‘60s guest appearances by Chad Everett before he starred in Medical Center later in the decade:
Monday, January 1
* Chad Everett guests on Hawaiian Eye (10-11 p.m. ET/PT)
Monday, January 8
* Sal Mineo guests on Harry O (8-9 p.m. ET/PT)
Monday, January 15
* Chad Everett guests on 77 Sunset Strip (9-10 p.m. ET/PT)
Monday, January 22

Monday, January 29
* After I Dream of Jeannie, but before Dallas , Larry Hagman guests on Harry O (8-9 p.m. ET/PT)
* Then, another classic TV fave makes an early appearance as Max Baer, later to be Jethro on The Beverly Hillbillies, visits 77 Sunset Strip (9-10 p.m. ET/PT)

- Tuesdays on AmericanLife feature the American Soldier, highlighted in January by classic guest stars and Combat!’s pilot episode:
Tuesday, January 2
* Soon after leaving Gunsmoke, but before becoming McCloud, Dennis Weaver guests on Combat! (8-9 p.m. ET/PT) as a GI who would rather farm than fight

Tuesday, January 23
* The squad relives D-Day at Omaha Beach in the series pilot of Combat! (8-9 p.m. ET/PT), which originally aired as a flashback episode midway through the 1962-63 season.

- If it’s Wednesday, it’s time for Secret Agents on AmericanLife:
Wednesday, January 24
* Horror film veteran Boris Karloff plays a London assassin in “The Mother Muffin Affair” on The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. (10-11 p.m. ET/PT).
