It's funny you ask, because this is a show my mother has brought up to me on more than one occasion. She really liked it and has some very fond memories of it. Based on what she's told me, I'd be interested to see it, but I doubt it will ever be aired again

there is an off chance that MAYBE one day after Lear dies, it might be released
as sad as it sounds, once a legend passes away-- they often bring out forgotten stuff on dvd to capitalize

i have found that most people who have rare stuff like this
DO NOT EVEN KNOW they have it

they taped it decades ago and the tapes are buried in boxes in the attic or not labeled

TV

I wasn't surprised that it got canceled --there was nothing like it on TV at the time, and in those days lots of pressure groups complained about anything with sex humor --I don't really recall actual plots. I tried to get into it, but it wasn't my cup of tea, then. I'd probably enjoy it now that I'm older.
I thought James Cromwell was very sexy and hot, though. I prefered him when he guest starred on All in the Family as Stretch Cunningham. I liked that charcater better, and at the time wondered why they couldn't have added him to that show? But at the time, Carroll O'Conner was refusing to come to work, in order to get more money or something. That's when they brought in the sexy James Cromwell.
They had thought of killing Archie off, and having Stretch as a regular --maybe to eventually date Edith, I think! I think Carroll wanted to make sure that didn't happen, and wouldn't have a chance to replace him --he might've been the one to insist that the attractive Cromwell not be on the show anymore, and they killed off Stretch instead.

I think Cromwell talked about this in an interview somewhere, can't recall where. But he didn't want Stretch to be killed off

When I was in College, I performed in the play.

A very depressing show. I really can't imagine the TV version being any more uplifting.
