Default Is this true? "That's My Mama Now?

I read a post on hometheaterforum.com that there was a pilot episode shot for a new That's My Mama show called That's my Mama Now. There were ads in the trade papers and a pilot episode shot, but never happened with it. Sony claims today they do not have the pilot anymore. Has anybody heard of this before? Somehow I can't imagine a show called That's My Mama Now!

Yea I heard rumors about that. I read on the JTS website that it was to have starred Ted Lange because Clifton Davis was doing Amen at the time.

There should be a picture of a That's My Mama ticket. There is just a quick mention underneath that says a pilot for a new Mama show was made, but never happened with it.

I thought you were talking about another pilot show in 1973 which was called something else at the time but didn;t do well. I will tell you the name of that show later. But since the show didn't do well it was renamed That's My Mama

Some articles have made reference to it. This show like Whats Happening, was short lived but proved to be popular in syndication, hence the revival. What's Happening Now started out doing great until Rerun was dropped and they wanted to bring back Thats My Mama in first run syndication but the syndicators rejected the pilot. Since it was rejected, I imagine the creator of the revival series probably still has the script and the taped episode.

Well I'm glad it was never shot because the original show was GARBAGE so it defintely didn't need a revival series-lol

Well...I'll speak for myself here (and hope it starts a trend... ) I watched the first season of That's My Mama originally, almost from the get-go. I was young enough to have been interested in watching Little House On The Prairie instead, but I had only very recently read several of the "Little House" books when this show was announced--and Pa had a beard! I think that Michael Landon casting himself instead of his pal Victor French (whom a lot of people I knew back then said would have been ideal!) as Pa--that alone was enough to kill my interest. And I know I did watch Tony Orlando & Dawn from time to time when it started, but by early spring of '75 I was making a point to catch That's My Mama every week. I really liked it a lot. Then something odd and a little sad happened in the fall. I went nutty wild for When Things Were Rotten (which preceded TMM beginning in September) and watched it without fail every week. But after a very few short weeks I totally lost interest in That's My Mama. I didn't like the new theme or the tweaks in the format. After WTWR I'd just go do something else. So by December, though I mourned the cancellation of WTWR, I didn't care that TMM was ending at all. And it had been one of my favorite shows just a few short months before. I don't usually go off things that easily, but there ya go. For my money, season one was great and season two was mercifully short.

I think if this show was more like What's Happening I would have liked it better. Meaning that the Mother on TMM would be seen little and the show would focus on Clifton, Junior and Earl in the Babershop like What's Happening Focused on Rerun, Raj, and Dwayne at the Soda Shop
