It's nice to see so many fans of the show! I was just about 10 years old when MN was in it's heyday, and never was able to visit the set.
My mom (Ernie's sister) did once and said it was really wonderful to see her brother in action! I haven't seen him in a while...but since his father (my grandfather) lived with us for most of my adolescent life, he was around quite often! He's a VERY nice man...who'd bend over backwards to make a fan feel special! I still getta Christmas card from him and Tova every year! Any fans of the movie "Marty"? Now that's a special movie for me...since Ernie won his Oscar for it in 1955, the year I was born! BFN fans...nice site too! pontoon

Hello...
I am new to this area ... ...but am possibly one of the BIGGEST fans of this wonderful series!!! Busy doing - ALOT of writing in an effort to see if we can PROMPT someoine to get full McHale's Navy series on DVD? With Mr. Borgnine and Mr. Conway there could have ALOT of great bonus material! The series was GREAT and I have three 16x20 ORIGINAL Eastman Dye TV Guide portraits (used to make the covers of TV Guide magazine) one of which is a full cast-member picture and the second of Mr. Borgnine, Mr. Conway and the late Mr. Flynn, the third is a solo-portrait of Mr. Borgnine himself. I have met and had Mr. Conway sign the portraits he appeared in ...is there ANY POSSIBLE way I might be able to obtain a moment of Mr. Borgnine's time to have him sign these for me? He appears in all three... This would BE SO MUCH APPRECITED!!! Any ideas? Thank you and God Bless! I Met Your Uncle Twice in Palm Beach at The Breakers Hotel Once in 1982 and again in 1984. He is such a nice Man. And of all the Celbs I Have Met Over the Years at Charty Fuctions in Palm Beach He is still the best. He and His Wife went to over 70 tables posed and signed Autographs. The time We Spent after the event will always be one of the things I shall always Remember for Life. He told Us of His Navy Days in WW2. And to My Delight Told Us stories right from the Mchales Navy Set. And had the sweetest stories about His Friend Joe Flynn and What a trooper He Was while working on that show. I Have always been the biggest fan of Mchales Navy and those two nights are uppermost in My Heart. And nice Photo's on My Wall. He Prob Won't Me but He Might Remember The Event. It Was The JFK Ball put on by Mr. and Mrs. Pope. Give Him My Best, And My Thanks, When You Speak to Him. My Best Capt. Ron Washam

If you get the chance, pass this along to your Uncle.
Back in the early to mid 80's, your Uncle was being interviewed (possibly on Entertainment Tonight) and the interviewer asked him specifically if he would ever do a McHale's Navy reunion movie. And without missing a beat his reply was "I'd love to, but where would you get another Joe Flynn." That one statement related just how much respect he had for the talent of the late Mr. Flynn and how much he brought to the show. I felt it was a very classy thing to say. But then again, I've always heard that you Unlce is a very classy guy. |

...where CAN you find another "Captain Binghamton"? Or someone with that wonderful sputtering anger that Joe Flynn skillfully demonstrated every week?
{"I could scream...I could just SCREAM..."} No, that's why there'll never be a "MCHALE'S NAVY" reunion. |

My dad was in the navy and I know that the "crew" came and visited at one of the locations my dad was stationed during the late 50's or early to mid 60's. Some one did a color chalk picture for him that I have framed. After looking it bears a resemblence to a TV guide cover. Who ever did it signed it "Hale". At least that looks like what the signiture says. I have heard rumors that someone on the cast might have drawn it and given it to my dad. I have no idea how to figure out if that is true or not. So if any of you hard core fans know anything or where I could look I would greatly appreciate it. I'll try to attach a picture of it. If it doesn't work. You can email me at laurie_pettay@msn.com and I'll send a picture that way.
Thanks in advance for any help! laurie |
