I am looking very forward to season 2, but season 1 was really the best of the three seasons.

...because, during production of season two (1968-'69), Sally Field's personal problems began to mushroom. They might not have showed up on screen, but this was the point where she wished she could just chuck the whole series. She still feels this way to this very day....that particular time of her life is STILL a bitter memory, I'm sorry to say.

these personal problems are covered in detail by ms. field herself in "sally field looks back at the flying nun," a really top-notch extra on the season 1 dvd.
