The DEA confirmed that on Monday, August 14th, they received information that Arellano-Felix might have been on board a 43-foot recreational boat named 'Doc Holiday.' US Coast Guard officials were scheduled to intercept the boat 15 nautical miles off the coast from La Paz, Mexico. On the boat, agents found eight adults and three children. Although he initially tried to throw agents off his trail by using an alias, Francisco Javier Arellano-Felix was soon identified. Everyone on the boat was arrested and transported to San Diego. Authorities say that Arellano-Felix's arraignment is scheduled to take place soon.

Cops say that with Francisco Javier's capture, the Arellano-Felix gang is extremely vulnerable. Police say their latest intelligence confirs that Francisco Javier's brother, Eduardo, is still "running about" in Mexico. Furthermore, they offered the evaluation that Eduardo would not make an effective leader of the cartel now that Francisco Javier has been taken down.
