Does anyone remember the original Bill Cosby show from the late 60s? He played a school teacher by the name of Chet Kincaid. That was perhaps some of his best work in television.

Yes, absolutely!

We (my bro and sis and I) used to watch it during its original network run...I believe (but I could be wrong) that it ran on Sunday nights, and we enjoyed it very much...and I remember watching reruns after school in the early-mid 70s, but I don't know that it's ever been on since...plus, I believe it only ran for two seasons, which might not be enough for anyone to run the series today...too bad, it was a good show, I think...not hysterical, but very humorous nonetheless...very gentle humor...

And, we LOVED the closing theme song as well, even though we never could figure out where those words came from! ("heckabrrrrr heckabrrrrr")

Yes, I loved the theme song too, although I could not understand what Bill was saying much of time during the song, but I still loved it. A lot of places showed this series in syndication during late night entertainment during the early 80s. I remember getting up at 4:30 AM just to watch the show back in 1982. I vaguely remember it during its network run during the late 60s. But I was well familiar with it during the 70s and 80s.

I think I remember it but can't remember if it was first or if
I Spy came first.

It came after I Spy which ran from 1965-1968, The Bill Cosby Show ran from 1969-1971.

Both of the series were very good. In the Bill Cosby show, he plays a Physical Education teacher in Los Angeles, and he was the High School Basketball Coach as well.

The show only lasted 2 years (52) episodes, but I think that he best showcases his talent as actor in this series.

Bill Cosby will probably be best remembered for his 1984 television show 'The Cosby Show', and for the Jello Pudding comercials, however, I will always remember him for his late 60s television series, and as the creator of the Fat Albert and the Cosby kids cartoon series.

Great show. Among my favorites was one with Don Knotts as (of all things) a repo man, out to get Bill's TV.

BTW, here's a memory jogger for those who remember the show. What episode dealt with a 3BU8, and what was it?

I think I remember that one. Hadn't he invited a lot of people over to watch a blacked-out football game on TV (after he had installed some sort of special antenna)? But then his TV set broke and he needed a new 3BU8 tube. The repairman didn't have one, so he had to borrow a set from the neighbors and his guests ended up trying to watch the game a tiny portable TV.

Yes, that is from the episode "The Sesame Street Rumble". Great episode, with NBA legend Bill Russell as guest star. The best part of the episode is when Chet goes next door and tries to talk the little kid into letting him borrow the TV set. "Now Davey, if you let uncle Chet borrow the TV, you can come over and watch the game and learn all about football". "No, I want to watch Sesame Street and learn about the letters E, O, and W!". Then the kid gives Chet a rap on the noggin with his baseball bat. Great stuff!

now that I think about it, a local station used to rerun thatow late at night on Saturday night/early Sunday mornings, in the 80s. Around 4 or 4:30 am.

Except I can't remember anything about the neighbor kid wanting to watch "Sesame Street", which surprises me. That's the sort of detail I'd have expected to stay with me. Oh, well.

The 1st and last time I saw the show was 20 years ago while visiting my cousins in Fort Lauderdale. It used to come on weeknights(can't remember the time)and I really enjoyed the gentle humour on the show. It reminds me of "Room 222".
