No he just interrupted the production for a certain ep when he found out Rickles broke something on his desk. CPO Sharkey was filmed right next to the Tonight Show Studio

BTW he was on Carson a few times during Sharkey.

I don't have any actual Tonight Show episodes besides the last one. I think I have either the 18th anniversary special or the 20th anniversary special somewhere.
