Oh wait, it's a joke.

Haha, seriously... I was a little worried when I saw this thread title, lol. So yeah, my goal had been to catch every LH episode once and for all. Even though I've seen reruns for years, I was having trouble catching some episodes, like the 1 1/2 hour ones. When Hallmark started playing them, I thought I was in luck to finally watch every single LH episode and the movies. However, I could not get through Godsister because it is so Godawful. I will never reach my goal now.

was this the 90 minute episode where Carrie has an imaginary friend?

if it was then the episode should be titled "Godawful"
no wonder they didnt use the Carrie character much after that episode

another question
was Carries character supposed to be mentally challenged?
was the part written that way?

Yep... 90 minutes. Imaginary friend.

Godawful! That's what I'm saying! LOL. It's a shame Carrie had to be such a wasted character. And no, she wasn't supposed to be mentally challenged. She just came out that way. Those twins could not act for beans. I can see why they were chosen for the show in the beginning. Although their lines in season one weren't really great (usually they'd just shout), I thought Carrie was entertaining, if not goofy. But I think the twins were chosen because they looked pretty dependable to follow cues (plus maybe ML thought they were cute). You'd see them make good eye contact and smile all the time the first season, as well as do certain things (like helping Caroline make apple fritters) which is probably hard for most 3 year old actresses. But once they got a little older, they were not good at acting. They should have been canned and a better Carrie put in their place. Usually I'm not for replacing actresses, but in this case the future of Carrie could have become a main character in the show. And we wouldn't now have to wonder if Carrie really was mentally challanged.

Well, I finally saw the dreaded "The Godsister," seemingly everybody's least favorite episode. I actually caught part of this episode back in the day and thought it was awful. I was pleasantly surprised that the lead singer from my second favoritest musical group appeared. I had no idea any of them (or any of my favorite singers) were ever on Little House. He even got to sing a little, and something blew up real good. The heaven sequence was also touching. The episode was not a total loss.

Okay, this is hilarious. I was just bitching about Carrie on reddit a couple weeks ago. Glad to see I haven’t changed a bit. What I said 18 years ago was what I said two weeks ago. Except… the twins were four by the start of season one filming! Four, not three. That was the glaring red flag that they were probably going to be a problem from day one. Because those twins seemed like they were two years old when they were four. They clearly never caught up. Then the character of Carrie was sullied. So was Grace. Season 5-8 could have really been something different with proper actors–who were closer to the right ages–to play Carrie and Grace, much like the Mary/Laura dynamic of the first few seasons. Instead, they brought in like 6 fictional children to fill the void. What a pity.

I said on reddit it would have been a kindness to just recast Carrie rather than do what they did: Carrie only existing for trips to the outhouse, weird outbursts, and a fever dream that fans make fun of 50 years later. Recasting would have been the kindest thing Landon could have done for them. I said the excuse could have been “we’re aging Laura so she can marry sooner, we have to age Carrie, and the twins are too young, so it makes sense to recast. We’re doing the same for Grace.” He didn’t even have to tell their mom it was because they have little talent. Easy peasy.
