I'LL answer you, and I promise no smart answers!

All I know is, it was on NBC and starred Wally Cox as a high school biology teacher, who was single and his girlfriend was the school nurse. And, in some episodes Marylin Horne (Aunt Clara on "BEWITCHED") and Tony Ranndall played 2 other teachers. That's all I know about it.

...but "MISTER PEEPERS" was actually a gentle comedy about a meek little man who happened to be a biology teacher in a small Midwestern town, and his reactions to "life's little problems" with his friends, fellow teachers, students and family. Marion Lorne was a fellow teacher (and the principal's wife), Tony Randall a much sharper and cynical fellow teacher, Jack Warden was the "go-getting" school coach, Ruth McDevitt was "Mom" Peepers, and a great cast they were!!! I'd definitely see the episodes now released on DVD, because there's very little chance you'll ever see them on local stations OR cable!

I'm shocked that it actually got a first season DVD release. I didn't know their were that many episodes that still exist.

no, me either, since they're all on kinescope and not many kinescopes still exist. One exeption is the "lost" HONEYMOONERS sketches.

....the reason those kinescopes exist is because they were saved by the star of the series and/or producer. In the case of the "Lost Honeymooners" episodes [which originally appeared on "THE JACKIE GLEASON SHOW"], Jackie Gleason himself saved virtually all of his 1952-'57 CBS shows after learning that most of his DuMont "CAVALCADE OF STARS" programs (1950-'52) were NOT being preserved. He had it written into his contract with the network that he be given a kinescope copy of every telecast he did...and that's why we can see them today.

In the case of "MISTER PEEPERS", creator/producer David Swift requested a kinnie of every one of HIS shows from NBC, which he got. He kept them for years...tried to repackage and syndicate them in the '70s, but no takers....eventually, he donated them to the UCLA Film & Television Archive upon his death. There are 102 of the 127 episodes of "MISTER PEEPERS" available from that archive...and now starting to be released on DVD.

That's a good thing to know. I understand they are already working on a second DVD box set.

And, as I mentioned in another thread, a lot of the DuMont Gleason programs turned up in the film collection of one of his writers, and were only found after he died. The kinescopes were donated to the Museum of TV & Radio, and the Disney Channel did a few "clip specials" using them in the mid-1990s.
