Default Lifetime's edits of Golden Palace?

Hello,

This has been briefly mentioned before but I was wondering how much Lifetime edited "The Golden Palace" for their recent showings of the show? What is missing from the episodes on Lifetime as opposed to the original airing of the episode? It'd be very interesting to know.

Thanks!

Patrick

In the "Price is Right" episode, they cut the scene where they are watching the show & Sophia's name is called.

They edit at least 3 minutes out of each of them. I know. I taped them when they originally aired.

I was watching my Golden Palace tapes, and I see that they are edited, but I would have really loved to see the scene where Sophia's named is called out. Also someone else told me that Rose made a phone call to the police, after she was robbed, and the robber went to the next hotel. That was the 2nd episode.(That Was all edited!) Also I timed "Seems Like Old Times Part 2" for fun to see how long it was. Well without commericals Lifetime's edited version was 21mins, & 28seconds. Thats very short! So hopefully it will be released on DVD, and the Un-Edit versions will be on the dvd!

Did they ever play all the Golden Palace episodes on Lifetime? I know they played some of them, but they didn't really play that many before they went back to playing the Golden Girls. Does anyone know if they will air all the episodes? I would love to see all of the Golden Palace episodes.

They have been airing all of them, to my understanding. I don't get Lifetime.

Lifetime back In August 2005, aired Golden Palace all 24episodes. They also have shown it In December again. I don't know When, or If Lifetime will show GP again, because I saw the last episode of the Golden Girls about 2 weeks ago. And usally they show GP after the golden girl's last episode. Also MisterEd or anybody, have you see Golden Palace's episode # 18 called "You've Lost That Livin' Feeling"? What was it about I frogot to tape so I have 23/24 eps. that were aired on Lifetime.

Default What Lifetime Television got....

...from Buena Vista Television was the "syndicated" edition of the show- they were seen in edited form on local stations long before it started airing "exclusively" on Lifetime. Only thing is, THEY don't bother showing the original closing credits, preferring to show that "teenchy-weenchy" print on the bottom while promoting one of their other shows above!

p.s. even the opening theme is the "short" version!

So In The Orginal Broadcast in 1993 they sang the long version theme song?? I just wish they would show the un-edit versions of GP on Lifetime. So hopefully it will come to dvd one day.

These edits can be frustrating sometimes, mostly because they will edit the best parts of the show. For instance, GoldenGirlsFan mentions the phone call when Rose is held up at gunpoint. (FYI:That is actually the very first episode, Pilot) That was the FUNNIEST part of the entire episode and they cut it! Here is the dialogue that Lifetime shows and then following is the phone call they cut. The audience goes crazy and applauds during this. (PS. I taped the majority of the original airings back in 1992-93, and have them on DVD if anyone is interested.)

ROBBER: Where’s the safe?
ROSE: (noticing the ski mask) Oh, my. Aren’t you warm in that? We wore those in Minnesota only on the coldest days.
ROBBER: Where’s the safe?
ROSE: Oh, you want to put your gun in the safe. Of course. It would never fit in those small room safes we have.
ROBBER: The safe!
ROSE: I don’t know where the safe is. I’ll have to call our manager Roland.
ROBBER: No!
ROSE: That’s OK. He won’t mind. Roland, I’m sorry to wake you, but we have a guest here who wants to put something in the safe, and I don’t know where the safe is. Silly me. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. OK. Thanks so much. It’ll be just a few minutes. Can I ask you a question. I mean, the mask is a tip-off, but are you a first time visitor to Miami?
ROBBER: What about the safe?
ROSE: Roland’s on his way down. (ROBBER starts to leave.) Where are you going?
ROBBER: The Carlton. (ROBBER exits.)

------------below is the part editied out---------------------------------
(ROSE picks up the phone and dials.)

ROSE: Hello? There’s a male Caucasian, six feet tall, about 175 pounds, probably mid-thirties. He’s wearing a ski mask, brown eyes, prominent Adam’s apple. He’s carrying a 357 Magnum, and he’s on his way to the Carlton hotel. Who am I? Just a citizen who isn’t quite as stupid as everybody thinks she is. (huge applause.) Oh, I’m sorry, this is 411? Well, could you give me the number for 911?

I always love when Rose gets "tough" or "smart," and then of course, the big payoff is she couldn't even dial 911 correctly. Hilarious stuff.

Thanks for that un-edit phone converstation RoseNylund. I did frogot, but that is from the First Episode. It does really stink how Lifetime edits The Golden Palace. I loved this show, and would've loved to see the un-edit episodes. So hopefully it will come out on dvd. Also there is the episode where Sophia wants to go on "The Price Is Right". Well, I learned that they edited Sophia was watching it,and they called her name. I would have loved to see that.
