Default Do You Remember Your First Friend?

My first friend was a girl named Kelly who lived across the street from me between 1979 and 1985. I don't remember when we actually met, but my dad says it was sometime during the summer of 1979. I do have a memory of Kelly and I digging up something in my backyard after a really big rain storm. This was sometime during the fall of 1979. I remember how angry my dad was with us.

Yes, her name was Lori. I was about 5 when we started playing together. She was 2 years older than I but we stayed good friends all through elementary school. She was a tomboy like me and we did everything together, riding bikes, playing hide and seek, going exploring in the woods all kinds of stuff. I remember watching General Hospital and MTV with her when it first came out. We were quite the little troublemakers as well, terrorizing the other kids. I used to envy her because her parents worked all day and she and her older sister pretty much did whatever they wanted. I didn't realize till I was older that she had it kind of rough at home. Her dad had suffered a nervous breakdown years before and had become abusive. I know her mom loved her very much but couldn't be there for her when she really needed it because of her job. One time Lori got sick at school and ended up spending the evening at my house and my mom took care of her because her own mom had to work late. She moved away in the summer of 83 when she was 13 and I was 11 but I still saw her on occasion because her new house was near my grandmas and she was still in the same school district. It wasn't the same though and I really missed her a lot but she was older and was developing other interests so we didn't have much in common anymore. The last time I saw her was in high school in 1988 and she went on to become a teacher in a daycare center. I wouldn't mind getting to know her again but have no idea where she lives now. I keep checking on Classmates.com but she isn't registered.
Gosh, writing this just brought back some good memories from my childhood.

I don't just remember my first friend, she still is my friend. Probably met her about 16 years ago when I was 4.

Her name was Janey Sullivan, and we were neighbors and friends from toddlers until I moved away at age six. I remember her mother was old or so it seemed in my young mind. She was probably in her 30s, while my mother was in her early 20s.

My first real friend was a girl named Jamie. My family lived on the corner of a court and she lived on the court. We were best friends all through elementary school but drifted apart when we got to junior high because suddenly she became too cool for me.

Sure do. As a matter of fact I went back to the old neighborhood in Brooklyn and he was still there. I hadn't seen him in over 30 years. His name was Richard and was the only child of Norwegian immigrants. They lived two houses down from us. Our moms would talk over the fence while they were hanging out wash. Richard and I started playing about four years old.

Who remembers. I didn't stay in one place to long when I was young so the first real friend I remember was Scotty. He was my neighbor up in Richmond. I was 5 then.
