Yep, and it's even better than the first. Worth it for the hilarious hat shop scene in "Acrobats" alone.

I saw the I Married Joan collections, both volumes at Best Buy the other day. Just $6.99 apiece - that's a steal for one of TV's greatest masterpieces. I wish they would release more volumes

for a few years. (It replaced HOWDY DOODY, which was moved to Saturday morning). Great show. MR. PEEPERS was also a great show. But, because it was live, it was never rerun. The only existing episodes, therefore, are what are called "kinescopes." A kinescope, basically, is a motion picture taken by pointing a camera at the television screen. Consequently, don't expect the picture to be as crisp and clear as a filmed or video-taped show. I found a video tape of one episode of MR. PEEPERS, and it is watchable. If you have seen the "lost" episodes of THE HONEYMOONERS, you know what to expect. Those are also kinescopes. |

If you like "I Love Lucy" then you would get a kick out of Joan. There are certain episodes that really stand out and Joan was even funnier than Lucy at times. Joan was like the alternative to Lucy, very similar (always in funny situations) yet funny in her own way. I watched IMJ on Nostalgia (now AmericanLife) years ago and now it airs weekdays at 10am on the local Pax/i station here. Joan is often referred to as a poor man's Lucy but I thought she was every bit as funny. It's a shame it only lasted 3 seasons. I personally think you would like I Married Joan since you like Lucy

...because Joan Davis suddenly fell ill in early 1955, and couldn't complete a full 39 episode season (she filmed only 20 episodes in the final season). NBC [and General Electric, her sponsor] would have liked to have had her finish out the season, because of the growing competition from ABC's "DISNEYLAND", but had to pad out the remainder of that season with repeats before pulling the show off in April of '55.
