I purchased it last night, but probably won't have time to watch any until this weekend. I'll be really interested to see the quality of the picture.
I'll report back after getting a chance to watch one or two of them. |

Well, let me tell you, the picture quality is awesome! I'm really, really pleased with what Universal has done with these films. For the price, this is the best bargain on dvd that I've ever seen!

Completely agree B&W Fan. This picture quality is sensational considering the time period it was filmed. I'd forgotten just how good these films were. I've got my eleven-year-old hooked on them now. He's already seen four of them.
The funny part is, with him only being 11, he asked if any of the movies were filmed in color. He's not a big fan of black-&-white, but I love 'em. And they really bring back some memories, especially Buck Privates. I'd forgotten how many great scenes there were in this one, especially my favorite, the one where Abbott drills Costello and three others, and eventually has to hold Costello and yell "right face, right face!" to get them straightened out. And yes, for the money, there is not a better deal in DVD's out there. I was really surprised at the price, but I am not complaining. I am already looking forward to the next batch to come out. |

...that not every movie in Bud & Lou's heyday was filmed in color, as they are today--and that Universal was a cheap studio, and they considered their movies "B" material...meaning, not enough interest [OR MONEY] to film them in color. It wasn't until "JACK AND THE BEANSTALK" (1952) that the boys were FINALLY seen in color {a cheap process, though!}.

not all of "JACK & THE BEANSTALK"was in color. Most of it was, though. Since Lou's character falls asleep while he's babysitting, and dreams about "JACK & THE BEANSTALK", the beggining and end of the movie are in black-and-white.
