Default December Bride/Pete & Gladys

If these two great shows are on in the viewing area, please let me know. These were shows which I grew up on and I would love to see them again. There are so many wonderful shows from the 50's which I would love to see again. I can't find these shows anywhere.

I have never seen either show and I would love to see them but the stupid networks won't air them because they think nobody remembers them.

Well, some people DO remember these great shows. But many people do not.

These shows, and others from the late 40's and early 50's, were the pioneer's of television history. I want to see ALL the older shows.

Only MY opinion: I'd MUCH rather watch the older shows in b/W [though I know some went to color in the 60's] than watch today's shows. I don't find much to interest me on television nowadays.

I agree they were true pioneers. I've seen a lot of them. I remember watching Life Of Riley, Bob Cummings Show, My Little Margie, George Burns And Gracie Allen Show, and You Bet Your Life back on CBN in the early 80's. Its to bad networks won't rerun those type shows much anymore. I'd also like to see some of the dramas from the 50's and 60's because they are rerunned even less then the sitcoms.

Life of Riley, not only the Jackie Gleason version, but the William Bendix ones!
My Little Margie - one of my favorites. I Married Joan - greatest! Donna Reed; Hazel; Amos & Andy; Phil Silvers; Make Room For Daddy.....on and on and on....

And the dramas: Highway Patrol; Sky King; Sea Hunt; Peter Gunn; The Millionaire; Loretta Young Theater; The Untouchables; Ripcord; Sargent Preston; Kookie on 77 Sunset Strip;
and the westerns and mystery and the variety ....so much more!!

I bet if the networks put some of these shows on today, there would be an entire new generation who would really enjoy them.

Don't you get tired of constantly watching the profanity, sex, violence, controversy, politicaly correct shows on the air today? Where's the fun in just relaxing and watching tv?

There are some shows I watch, but not that many. I enjoy the Disney channel & watch it all the time, especially the series and the movies.

A lot of those shows I've never seen. When TV Land first started I thought maybe some of them would air there but now they are airing the same shows that have been rerunned everywhere else. I watch a lot of todays hits but I also like classic television and would like to see some of these shows.

I'm wondering how many of the younger viewers (justifiably) assume that I Love Lucy and Leave It To Beaver were the only sitcoms back in the '50s. It's like so called "oldies" stations that, for example, play the heck out of Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett, but ignore his other hits, like Cheeseburger In Paradise.

I remember when Lucy and December Bride were shown back to back in syndication. That bothers me that their assuming nobody remembers shows like this is a legitimate excuse for not showing them. Who knows--maybe younger viewers will like them once they've seen them? And it would be a real treat for those hordes of us who do in fact remember them.

Back in the late 70's to 80's before WB was what it is now, the station was owned by James Gabert and he was a fan of the 50's sitcoms. He use to show all the oldies every night. One of those shows was Pete & Gladys, which I really liked. Gladys was played my Cara Williams who was like Lucy, it was really funny and the writers were from I Love Lucy.

Also shown were:
December Bride
Pete & Gladys
My Little Margie
Bachelor Father
People's Choice
You Bet Your Life
Burns and Allen
Jack Benny Show
I wish they still played these great old shows.

I remember most of those shows, except Bachelor Father and December Bride. I don't understand it either, they think no one wants to see these shows. They think everyone wants to see the 80's show now, yukkk! The 80's had very few good shows, only one I can think of that I really liked was Moonlighting.
I have lots of DVD's of Love that Bob, Ann Sothern, I Married Joan, and I watch them whenever I can!

Default Of COURSE Cara Williams....

...was like 'Lucy Ricardo' on "PETE & GLADYS"- Bob Schiller & Bob Weiskopf were the show's head writers during its two seasons on the air, and they DID
"borrow" some of the "Lucy" material they had worked on and adapted it into some of their "Pete & Gladys" scripts....this is why, when Lucy was reunited with the two Bobs at the start of "THE LUCY SHOW", she said to them accusingly, "You gave my best material to that OTHER redhead!!".

As for "DECEMBER BRIDE"...too bad VIACOM feels the show won't "go over" with viewers today. Still funny!!!!!
