LOTSA LUCK: Betcha didn't know ...
Dom DeLuise was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role as Stan Belmont on
the short-lived NBC sitcom LOTSA LUCK. Carl Reiner, by the way, was one of the creators of the show. |

That Deluise should have been a bigger star
he is so funny a comic actor and he did so well in Fatso in a serious role i have always said that if he was around back in the 50s he would have been a huge star like Gleason

...but "LOTSA LUCK" was actually adapted from a British comedy called "ON THE BUSES"- Reiner merely reworked the show (with Bill Persky & Sam Denoff, his old writing buddies from "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW") for an American audience. NBC, however, had no patience in waiting for ther show to become a "hit" (especially when it was on opposite "GUNSMOKE"!!), and dumped it at the end of the 1973-'74 season. Big mistake...NBC didn't have another hit sitcom for the rest of the decade!!!
