Starved is Funny in a Cruel Way - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I am getting hooked on this dark comedy. It comes on before "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" so the 2 shows make a good hour of TV.

For those who havn't seen it, beware. It isnt for everyone. It is for adult audience (TVMA) on the F/X Network and is very dark humor. Sometimes it is too dark for me, but I do like the show as a whole.

Oops, I goofed and posted my thoughts in the It's Always Sunny thread, before I saw this one, so I'll just move it:

When starved first aired, I expected it to be really funny, but when it was a downer I was totally turned off it.
I kept taping it though, and upon rewatching the tapes, knowing it was a gritty downer type going into it, I liked it much better, and grew more fond of the characters.
I can see the honest pain and familiar human condition, and I'm kind of sad that we don't get to see their fate or see them redeem themselves.

The independent filmaker that created it (he played the lead role in Starved...you know, the one stuffing chocolate cake in his face) aslo made the movie 'If Lucy Fell', which I loved, among many others.
He said 'Starved' was based on his own experiences, which was why it was so raw and maybe people don't want to see that. I hope he's not too bummed it only lasted 7 episodes (I know I am).
