Lightbulb Amazon says: To be released on DVD?!

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...s=dvd&n=507846
This is highly sketchy, but . . .

Let me tell you right now that both my eyes are watery and there is a tear running down my cheek.

Details are hopefully forthcoming.

Edit: And I've just dashed an email off to Amazon asking for confirmation, so we'll see!

My two cents: My personal feelings for the show aside, surely from a manufacturer's perspective, if old films from the 30s and 40s are being released on DVD, ones whose main audiences from back then probably wouldn't care about any ding dang darned DVD technology now, it would hardly be a gamble to release a show that has a very large fan following, and countless numbers of people just begging to see it. Heck. Star Trek was canceled in the '60s, and now look!

Okay, the page says:

"You'll also be voting for this release; we'll let the studio know how many customers are waiting for this title."

So, please, sign up! Get all your friends and family members and pets and distant relations and people you meet on the street to sign up! Arrgh!

I'm glad to hear that possibly Amazon is thinking of putting out AfterMASH on DVD. I wish The Hallmark Channel would soon aquire, at least, a handful of its episodes to air. I remember watching the show when I was real young, so I don't remember much. I do know there was alot of publicity before it aired, and it was unfair that people compare it to MASH, because MASH and All In The Family are as groundbreaking as shows can get.

No word yet, but ask people to sign up for updates so Amazon knows we're interested!

Edit:
"This title will be released on December 31, 1969. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives."

WTF?!

Update:

Quote:
"Please note "December 31, 1969" is not the actual release date for this product. We are currently working on a fix and will display the correct release date shortly."
So that means . . . that they WILL release it? ::fingers crossed!::

Amazon says the same thing about The Facts of Life which is a title I know several people are waiting for. I didn't think they had a "sign up if interested" option though, I'll have to double check

At any rate, I think seeing those notes on Amazon can only mean good things.....it's just a matter of how much longer will we have to wait?

If this ever does happen, I wouldn't count on it until after all the M*A*S*H seasons are out on DVD. Season nine is coming out next month, so the two final seasons should be out next year.

So it'll be 2007 at least before we see this...if ever. Don't hold your breath...

I'm not a fan of this show, but want to just let you all know that Amazon just does that for random shows and put up random titles for other so called releases like "Classics Volume One", for instance. They have listings for just about every show in the book, but most of them still have a 0 chance of ever being released. If you look up a search for a show like THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW, towards the end of the results you see just several listings that say THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW (1961), THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW (1965), etc... So just because amazon.com says that AFTERMASH will be released, that is typical of them, and don't hold your breath quite yet for this release. Depend on NOTHING until it is confirmed by our friends Gord and Dave over at TSoD.
