Who here thinks Freedie would have made a great stage performer on or off broadway? if so what kind of roles would you have liked to see him in? sorry if this has been brought up before but was talking to Dani about it and think he would have made a brilliant Count Fosco in "The Woman in White" The character is a complete villian but is vary charming and comical he'd have to put on an italin accent and wear a fat suit but i'm sure he'd have had a ball with it and i can so see him in this character.
Here's a video preview which includes some Fosco clips.. not hard to miss.. the big guy with the slicked hair and tash http://www.broadway.com/gen/Buzz_Video.aspx?ci=521667 You guys have any idea's? Valjean or Javier from Les Mis or Billy Flinn from Chicago maby? He woulda made a smooooooth billy Phantom i'm not sure about, acting wise i am but the role requires a certain type of voice. any thoughts? |

I think he would have liked to do a role similar to this one. He started in theater, so to go back would have been a big thing for him, I'm sure. Should be interesting to see what characters the nice ladies here can come with for Freddie to play.

I agree with Dani as well. I believe I seen somewhere that he had an interest in doing broadway someday. I can imagine him doing a show and somewhere down the line throwing some of his thick Puerto Rican accent in parts of the show.

There was a stage version of "Dracula" that my high school did--I worked on the stage crew. It played a bit fast and loose with Bram Stoker's original story (similarly to the movie which starred Frank Langella back in the 80's--still my ultimate Dracula, barring Freddie having played him hee hee!), but woulda been a great role for our Prinze!

I could see Freddie singing and dancing in West Side Story. He would play the part of the man who fell in love with Maria. That part would be perfect for him.

I would have loved to see Freddie play in Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. He would have sang his parts beautifully.

I agree with you both, Pitooey and Macca. I missed the portion about musicals in the original question (duh!), which is why I mentioned Dracula first. It is true that his voice was not dark enough for the Phantom, but yes he woulda been great as Billy Flynn! And I can think of several other Sondheim and Webber musical productions in which Freddie woulda been fabulous...the list is endless, really!
As for straight theatre again, though--any number of Shakespeare comedies, such as Much Ado About Nothing or Midsummer Night's Dream (as Puck, one of the roles our dear boy Laz has played). And let us not forget Romeo and Juliet OMG! PS to Suz: I do believe Freddie injected his Puerto Rican accent into a part that didn't actually call for it while he was still in high school--the telephone repair man in Barefoot in the Park. Not a large role, but it really got everyone's attention when he did that! |

That's right Mariposa, thanks! That would have been hilarious to see a young Freddie preform that on stage
