although i really like Flo - i also like the blonde girl that replaced her (its been soooo long since i've seen the show i can't remember her name) any episodes with her would be great.
i also like the one where Flo gives up coffee, Alice gives up chocolate, and Vera gives up cigarettes.

In my opinion, Warner Home Video probably would like to keep this initial DVD release simple. Which means that they would like to keep the episodes with the original stars (Polly Holliday) on it. The box cover photo and credits wouldn't have to explain the cast changes to the consumer. I believe when you ask anyone about Alice, automatically the original cast comes to mind.

I aggree with you that they should probably put out the DVD with the first season as to not to confuse some of the consumers, but the consumer that buys this DVD should probably already know a thing or two about Alice don't you think?

Glad to hear that Alice is coming to DVD but I am sure this would sell better by skipping this "best of" disc and going straight to the first season. Best of DVDs don't usually do well because everybody would rather see the whole series. Look at the Best of Designing Women DVD. Nobody bought it and I read that it was because fans wanted the first season and because they picked some of the most boring episodes to put on it. That aside, here are my 10 picks for my favorite Alice episodes eventhough there are so many more than this that are good also.

# 12 Mother-in-Law Pt.1 & 2
# 16 The Accident
# 18 The Hex
# 22 Mel's Cup
# 46 The Bus
# 53 Block those Kicks
# 54 What Happened to the Class of '78
# 74 Mona Lisa Alice

Hope some of these make it and I will definately buy this disc if it helps to get season 1 in my hands later on.

I've always enjoyed "Alice" and will definately buy any & every dvd release ont he show. My top 10 favorite episodes are:

#9. Good Night Sweet Vera Alice and Flo try to keep Vera from O'Ding on sleeping pills.

#20 The Odd Couple Flo's trailer is stolen, and Alice has the heart to let her stay at her house for a spell. The spell is broken when Alice finds out that Flo is an all-out slob and have unwelcomed visitors (Flo's latest boyfriend, not roaches).

#28 Alice By Moonlight
Alice's moonlighting job as a nightclub singer is taking its toll on her waitress job.

#31 That Old Back Magic

Mel can't be moved after his bad back flares up at Alice's place.

#33 A Semi-Merry Christmas

Alice and friends are snowbound en route to her cousin's for Christmas.

#37 Close Encounters Of The Worst Kind

Hostility rages at Mel's after the workers decide to vent their petty grievances

#47 Mel's Recession

Mel considers firing a waitress to save money.

#74 Mona Lisa Alice

Alice's sour reaction to Tommy's matchmaking efforts threatens Mel's new promotional gimmick which is free meals to customers if his waitresses don't smile.

Wow, as the person who runs a website dedicated to one of my favorite shows for 10 years, I'm glad to see it's finally coming to DVD. Here's some of my favorite episodes (in no particular order. Most are from the 2nd/3rd seasons, which I think were the best ones)

"Car Wars"
Mel gets a better offer after the waitresses buy his car.

"Take Him, He's Yours"
Frustrated Alice decides to let Mel take Tommy for a while.

"Close Encounters of the Worst Kind"
Alice's amateur psychology causes trouble among her friends.

"Who Ordered the Hot Turkey?"
Mel's Thanksgiving dinner for orphans runs into problems.

"Vera's Popcorn Romance"
The gang tries to meet Vera's new boyfriend.

"Oh, George Burns!"
Vera thinks visitor George Burns (as himself) is God.

"Alice by Moonlight"
Alice loses sleep while moonlighting as a singer.
