Picked it up at Best Buy today, for the very good price of $6.99. For 6 episodes, not bad.

The episodes look great; even better than they looked on the remastered Columbia House VHS tapes in 1998.

I wish they'd chosen "Here Comes the Tribe", "Johnny Eagle Eye" and "The Day the Indians Won" as the black and white episodes, or maybe "The 86 Proof Spring" or "The Phantom Major", but I won't criticize the selection too much. "Indian Fever" is still very funny, and "The Girl from Philadelphia" has that classic first season "feel"; though "A Fort's Best Friend is Not a Mother" is a funnier episode with the same theme. I was never a fan of "The Return of Bald Eagle".

The 3 color episodes, though, might well be the best 3 from the second season. I certainly think "Our Brave in F Troop" is the best second season episode, and one of the few that regained the "feel" of the first season. Other exceptional choices could have been "Yellow Bird" or "Is this Fort Really Necessary?" but the 3 that were chosen are great choices.

It's number 154 at Amazon today, ahead of the "Maverick", "Chico and the Man", and "Cheyenne" DVD's released the same day in the "Television Favorites" series, so let's hope that if "F Troop" continues to be the big seller of the bunch, we'll get that First Season Boxed set soon!
