Reposted from old board:
Posted by A Gilligan Fan ss: Wow they have another good show. Too bad I'm not able to see it because this show doesn't run, maybe because it only done 42 episodes. So if you can please help to get this great show back on the air. I know about this show because I'm a fan of Bob Denver fron Gilligan's Island and most people relly don't know much aboutthis show so here's something about when it ran and the actors in it. Actors Character 1. Bob Denver as Rufus Butterworth 2. Herb Edaman as Bert Gramus 3. Joyce Van Patten as Claudia Gramus This show ran for two seasons 1968-1970. I have never seen an episode of this show but I've read Bob's book and other things about this show This summary is short and may not be good but this is something about the show: Bert has a friend named Rufus and they have been friends since they were born and Bert runs a diner place and is married to Claudia Gramus. Rufus tries to get into diffrent scemes to make money and they don't work. In the second season Alan Hale Jr. and Jim Backus, Skipper and Mr. Howell from Gilligan's Island guest star in Bob Denver "Gilligan" show. It's not like Gilligan's Isle with them, I think. Well, that was the summary and if anyone has ever watched this show maybe you can do a better summary. Posted by A Gilligan Fan ss Oh and I forgot to put, that Rufus is a cab driver. Oh and his character, Rufus isn't so much like Gilligan. Posted by bbutt007: I have about a dozen of these on tape, most in a very poor quality. It really wasn't a very good show and I'm surprised it lasted two seasons. Of course the best episode (and I luckily have it on tape) is the one with Alan Hale who plays truck driver Big Mike. Posted by sar: That's Herb Edelman as Bert Gramus. Posted by Richard: I remember in one episode of The Good Guys when Big Mike called Rufus his little buddy.I also remember Jim Backus guesting as Claudia's father-and one scene where the neighborhood drunk sees him with Rufus and asks,"Didn't I see you two on an island?" Bob Denver might have played a less kooky role than Gilligan, but the guests(and the quoted lines)showed how most people still thought of him. ------------------ Richard Ranke |

I vaguely remember this show..From what I recall it was not that bad a show..They did it before a live audience the first season. Set in a diner in the city, Bert's Place. Bert Gramus was the owner with his wife Claudia (Herb Edelman, Joyce Van Patten) Bert's best friend was Rufus Butterworth (Bob Denver), A cab Driver.
Jim Backus and Alan Hale did make guest appearances the first season. The second season was filmed without an audience The Diner was moved to the beach and Rufus became part owner. The comedy became a bit sillier. The show was canceled in early 1970. With better writing, the show might have lasted 3-4 seasons. D. P. Johnson has a nice webpage on the Good Guys.(Linked from the Sitcoms online main page)..Probably the only one. I thought that the theme song was one of the best ones of that period..I remember the music to this day. |

Another reason this show may have been canceled is because it was moved to Friday nights during its second season and it was scheduled against the Brady Bunch

I take my comment back. All shows have a right to be here, no matter what. Even if know one comes here at this time.

At this point I would watch anything BD was in, no matter how crappy. If it's really that bad, I could just turn the sound off and look at Bobby's butt.

The first season was much better than the second. Unfortunately the majority of episodes I have are from the last season. They shouldn't have changed the format.
