Tabitha - Tabitha joins her parents on DVD
Posted by Gord Lacey 3/08/2005 If the rumor at Harpies Bizarre is right, then Tabitha may join her parents on DVD this June. The 1977 series featured Tabitha, the child of Samantha and Darren Stevens from Bewitched. DVD info Posted by RP on March 6, 2005, 7:51 am I received an e-mail just this morning from a connection at SONY that tells me that the release date for the 1st season BW DVD is June 21st...and that they are releasing the entire "Tabitha" season that same day. The official announcement is supposed to happen in April. No one else seems to have this info to confirm, but this connection is pretty good, so I would bet that this is probably real. We called Sony to verify this information and were told that it's coming, but nothing has been officially announced yet, and won't be for some time. That's all we have to go on for now, but it sounds like this is a fairly solid rumor. ** be sure to check www.tvshowsondvd.com for more up to date info |

I've actually never seen this show, but I know that TV Land aired it after Square Pegs for a short while. I hope that if Sony has decided to release Tabitha on DVD then they will some day release Square Pegs on DVD. Gee, I wish I knew someone at Sony.

I remember, that show had 2 pilots; the first one stuck to the facts about her on "Bewitched"-Samantha and Darrin were her parents, she had a younger brother named Adam who also had powers, then the second one got all the facts wrong. Unfortunately, that's the one that ABC went with.

If you enjoyed this series at all I would highly suggest purchasing it. I'd only seen this series re-run on HA! in the early 90s and TV Land more recently, and enjoyed the show. Believe me, it's not great by any means, but it is kinda fun! I am extremely pleased to say that Sony has remastered all of the episodes. If you happened to see the airings on TV Land recently, you'll probably remember the aged, faded look that this series had. Sony has made these look 1000% better for the DVD release. It says "Remastered in High Definition" on the back of the DVD, but I never thought that they could make these look so incredible! I was also excited to see the inclusion of the rarely seen pilot episode on disc 2. But after watching it, I can see why it is rarely shown. It's not good. The actress playing Tabatha (that's how they spell it in the pilot) is a total poor-man's Karen Valentine. Anyway, just thought I'd share my thoughts... |
