If Kevin Hill were a 1/2 hr show on a fixed set with no exterior scenes it would have been renewed. UPN is more willing to keep 1/2 hr sitcoms that can be cranked out cheaply than expensive dramas. Chris Rock's Show seems like it will be well received by viewers and critics. Cuts is a terribly dumb show, the very worst of all the UPN comedies. It should've never been made. Other than Second Time Around which was basically already cancelled this is the first time that all of UPN's sitcoms have come back en masse for another season. They're low rated, but apparently it doesn't matter.

One reason, money. they can't afford to cancel anything, even something as ridiculous as Cuts. UPN can only rely on their internal ratings to determine the schedule and Cuts must have been higher than Kevin Hill. African Americans stay tuned to that Monday Night block, because it's the only chance they have to see black shows, so dumb shows stay on. UPN doesn't even try to strive for quality.

That's funny- they can't afford to cancel anything. Chris Rock probably wanted to get his show on another network, but went with UPN because he knows it will get a whole season there. Another network would throw his show in the garbage if it didn't get good ratings after 6 shows.

Personally, I didn't care for Kevin Hill- it seems like a show for female viewers. One on One is dumb, but it is supposed to be stupid as it aims at a very young audience. Cuts is ******** and without excuse. Girlfriends is not a show I can watch on the regular but it isn't atrocious, although the characters' can be annoying. Half and Half is unoriginal. The actors who play Big Dee Dee and the father are the best things in that by far. Brian Hooks is the best thing about Eve, which is a low rent affair. All of Us is an example of very poor acting and writing all around. Still if you're black or relate to black culture these shows have something to them. Until something better comes along I'll still tune in occassionally. What else is there? My Wife and Kids was stupid (I'd rate it along the lines of Cuts) and Bernie Mac (which is probably the best AA show on now) comes on on a night when I'm never home.

I think the month WWE Smackdown! is moving to Friday nights is in late August or early September. Smackdown! on Fridays could be a good move if WWE takes the show more seriously, give the fans a reason to watch Smackdown!... UPN might have a chance to win on Fridays, but thats very unlikely.. But I do hope it happens...

The UPN won't win Friday. But it will draw decent ratings, between 4 to 5 million a week, and has a very good chance of being 4th on the night, beating out Fox and the WB. Overall, it's a very, very savvy programming move.

The sitcoms on Thursday is another great move. Everybody Hates Chris has huge buzz and there are really no other sitcoms airing on the night (outside of NBC, which is a joke). As well, the only Thursday shows that play well with the African American audience are Survivor and The Apprentice, so there's obviously room for improvement. The UPN will get that audience, about anywhere from 3 to 4 million viewers, and EHC has the kind of buzz that should see it being a widely appealing show. It will be a very tight battle between the UPN and the WB for fifth on the night.
