Post Predicting the Skeds: Fox

For the umpteenth year, I am most dreading writing Fox's schedule picks. They are such a tourette's network, with critically acclaimed show ("24", "Arrested Development", "House"), an animation departmen unlike any other network ("The Simpsons", "King of the Hill", "Family Guy"), the teen soap that's the envy of every other network ("The O.C"), oh and the #1 show on TV in "American Idol"

Then, you see "Nanny 911", "Trading Spouses", and all the other reality crap the network throws out. So, let's attempt to make sense of this.

Already In: "House", "The Simpsons", "Malcolm in the Middle", "King of the Hill", "Family Guy", "The O.C.", "That 70's Show"

99.9% Chance it's Coming Back: "24", "American Idol", "Nanny 911", "Trading Spouses", "Cops", "America's Most Wanted"

Decent Shot at Renewal: "Arrested Development"

On the Bubble: "The Bernie Mac Show", "Life on a Stick", "Quintuplets", "The Simple Life"

Don't Count On It: "Kelsey Grammer Presents: The Sketch Show", "Point Pleasent", "The Rebel Billionaire: Branson's Quest For the Best"

Sunday:
7:00 King of the Hill
7:30 Malcolm in the Middle
8:00 The Simpsons
8:30 Grandmaster Freak & The Furious 15 (New Series)
9:00 Family Guy
9:30 Arrested Development (New Time)

An insider at Fox has told me they DO NOT have the programming with which to replace "Arrested" with. They won't cancel the Emmy Winning Best Comedy over a 5% audience drop unless they have something great to replace it with. That being said, I honestly think that "Family Guy" is a better fit with "Arrested" than "Malcolm" or "Simpsons ever could be. As far as "American Dad", it's not funny, and it won't be a hit. Therefore, look for David X. Cohen and Ice Cube's (What a pair!) new animated comedy to try to attract urban viewers.

Monday:
8:00 House (New Time)
9:00 Bones (New Series)/ 24

"House" was already safe after getting the "AI" boost this season. But then it did the unthinkable, it rose it's audience 6 million viewers from an already renewable Post-Idol audience, to where it's become a legit Top 10 drama. Look for it to launch the David Boreanaz forensic anthropology drama "Bones", which, if successful, could anchor another night when "24" returns for what will hopefully be another Non-Stop Season.

Tuesday:
8:00 Marriage 911 (New Series)/ Nanny 911/ American Idol
9:00 Prison Break (New Series)

Look for the reality wheel to work this season for Fox to help launch this new drama which is kinda "24" meets a prison breakout starring Dominic Purcell.

Wednesday:
8:00 That 70's Show
8:30 Pool Guys (New Series)
9:00 Stacked (New Time)/American Idol
9:30 Queen B (New Series)

Look for Fox to go back to the drawing board, except for "Stacked" which probably will draw male viewers to it, and be a decent sized hit. "Queen B" and "Pool Guys" could likely just be filler materials for the next big thing in reality.

Thursday:
8:00 The O.C.
9:00 Hitched (New Series)

Fox has to give up on the whole Teen - Supernatural drama out of "O.C." and try something just as light hearted, like this Mark - Paul Goselarr/Leslie Bibb drama about Vegas wedding planners.

Friday:
This night should be nothing but sitcom repeats, movies, and burned off episodes of "The Bernie Mac Show".

Saturday:
8:00 Cops
9:00 America's Most Wanted

Don't expect any change here any time soon.

Last year Fox produced three schedules because of the new programming they started in the summer and the fact that American Idol changes everything come January.
