There's probably been many, but I can't think of a ton off the top of my head.
I remember the Tracy Lynn Kirpatrick story from the earliest seasons. The girl that was working in a department store and was alone closing the shop when she was murdered in the back store room. I don't remember the details though, when they show it again, we can post it. (Where I live, Unsolved Mysteries comes on 3 times a day, so I am bound to see sooner or later) I remember the segment showing a picture of Tracy's tomb stone, on it is a poem she wrote in high school or something. It started... "Remember me when I am gone away" or something. |

I can't think of the town where Tracy Lynn Kirkpatrick is buried in. However, on another subject, I remember a significant case: a Pennsylvania man named Dale Kerstetter (if I spelled the surname correctly) who, in 1987, disappeared from the factory where he worked. I can't remember what Pennsylvania town this took place, but it might have been in the western part of the state.
Anyway, the segment aired in the fall of 1989, a full two years after his disappearance. He was shown with a masked intruder on one of the survelliance tapes. No one knows for sure whether he (Dale) was a willing or unwilling participant in the theft of the platinum that was stored at the plant. At one point, Dale inexplicably looked straight at the camera. That itself seemed eerie to me because no one can say whether he was just showing off or just his secret, non-verbal way of calling for help. The theft took place during the graveyard shift, a time where the factory obviously had very few workers on duty there. Also, this would probably explain how Dale and the thief (as well as the stolen platinum) easily escaped detection. So far, there has been no update to the case, so God only knows whether Dale Kerstetter is in hiding or was kidnapped and done in. Plus, the identity of the masked intruder remains a mystery as well. However, it is possible that the unknown thief was familiar with the plant. |

Quote:
There were recorded phone calls by a man who claimed to have murdered her, but he has not been positively identified. However, at one point during these phone conversations, he said he was going to keep running because he is aware that Maryland has the death penalty. Well, I guess he should have thought about that before he killed Tracy Lynn Kirkpatrick! |
