Exclamation Robert Blake arrested

Anyone else hear about this? I'm shocked but not shocked...I didn't even know there was still an investigation with it!

I'm shocked it took so long. If he's guilty, I would think they'd gather sufficient evidence to arrest him sooner than almost a year. If he's innocent, I would think they'd clear him for lack of evidence.
Maybe someone came forth with information or the police are cutting a deal with someone involved in her murder.
Time will tell I guess.

Well, the officials are saying that they have built up a solid case with a lot of evidence, etc. It has all been done very quietly, as well. This is the first mention of the case that I have heard in months, and I live in the L.A. area.

L.A. has to be really careful gathering evidence that is considered "reliable" and "untainted," especially where a rich and/or famous person is involved.

Anyone remember the O.J. Simpson case?

They don't want to risk accusations of either "rush to judgment" or favoritism. I assume that is why it took this long.

Good theory--makes sense to me. If he's guilty, I hope he's convicted.

I, too, am surprised that it took them so long to make an arrest. Then again, the LAPD has suffered a number of public relations setbacks in recent years, so I guess they wanted to wait until they had a pretty strong case before they moved forward.

I always though Blake's story sounded phony from the start:

Blake and his wife left the restaurant, and got into their car. Blake then realizes that he left his gun in the restaurant, and goes back to get it, leaving his wife alone in the car.

Robert Blake claimed to be carrying the gun because there had been threats made against his wife. If this is true, why would he leave her alone in the car? Why wouldn't they BOTH go back to the restaurant to get the gun? Instead, he left her unprotected, just "long enough for somebody to come along and shoot her".

(By the way, I thought Blake's carrying a gun for protection was a nice touch - it helps support his story that he believed they were in danger, and of course, he knew that ballistics tests would prove that a different gun was used to kill his wife).

Blake then claimed that when he went back to the car, he found his wife slumped over dead from a gunshot wound. What timing! I'm also willing to bet that when Blake went back into the restaurant, he created some sort of scene, so that a lot of people would notice he was there at the time of the shooting, thereby strengthening his alibi.

My advice to Robert Blake:

"Don't do the crime if you can't do the time".

This reminds me of an episode of "Baretta" gone wrong. I thought this was over, I mean I haven't heard anything about it in a long time. I have this feeling he won't be convicted though. I dunno why, I just don't think he's going to get convicted.

Red face

Mysty eyes is right! Because of the OJ case they could not make any mistakes. If you ask me......... His wifes death was so obvious. He left the area to retrieve a gun at the restaurant (?). I get the feeling someone BLABBED!
