LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Former "Seinfeld" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus will make another go at TV comedy, signing on to star in a pilot for CBS.
The actress will play the title role in "Old Christine," about a divorced mother who has to deal with her ex-husband, who's started dating, and condescending parents at her son's school. Her involvement lifts a cast contingency from the pilot, the showbiz trade papers report. Following "Seinfeld," for which she earned seven Emmy nominations (winning in 1996), Louis-Dreyfus starred in and produced the short-lived NBC series "Watching Ellie." She's also played herself on several episodes of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and guest-starred on "Arrested Development" (a role she reprises in Sunday's (March 6) episode). She's also the latest in a string of high-profile stars to sign on to pilots this development season. Geena Davis, Dylan McDermott, Aidan Quinn, Kristin Davis and Anne Heche are among those heading projects at the networks. Should "Old Christine," written by Kari Lizer ("Will & Grace"), be picked up, Louis-Dreyfus could join her former castmate Jason Alexander on the CBS schedule. Alexander's first-year sitcom at the Eye, "Listen Up," has drawn respectable ratings and at least temporarily ended discussion of the "Seinfeld" curse. |
