Smile Questions On "Sanford" Spinoff (1980-1981) Please Answer

Hi Everyone. I was wondering. As a big "Sanford & Son" fan with all 5 seasons on DVD and anxiously awaiting the 6th season, I am very curious to know about the spinoff "Sanford" (1980-1981). Never seen this show, but with Redd Foxx continuing his role as Fred Sanford, I bet it was hysterical. Anyway here are the four questions I have about Sanford that I was wondering if anyone can kindly please answer if they know.

1. How did the show begin in the opening and closing credits? In other words, on "Sanford & Son", it shows Fred relaxing reading the papers outside the store while Lamont pulls in with the truck in the opening and in the closing, Fred is helping Lamont load the truck. What scenes did it show of Fred in the opening and closing of "Sanford"?

2. What did Cal look like? I have tried to find pictures from this spinoff and even tried to find pictures of Dennis Burkely to see what he looked like, no luck. If anyone knows where there is a picture of Dennis Burkely and pictures from "Sanford", please let me know.

3. Was the chemistry between Fred and Cal, just like him and Lamont? How did they get along. Did they always fight. Did Cal get the famous line "How would you like one across your lip" from Fred? Did Cal yell at Fred for not doing any work around the place like Lamont?

4. I read of an episode on tvtome.com where Fred had a real heart attack on the side of the truck and was found by Cal. Was this episode dramatic? In other words, did they take the topic seriously where there was hardly any laughing on the laugh track or did they make it a comedic episode since Fred always made the audience laugh with his fake heart attacks? It said that Cal had a violent temper in the hospital about Fred's heart attack. Was there laughing when this happened or was it serious with no laughing. Also, if Fred was hospitalized for his heart attack, did he pull any antics while he was in the hospital. Remember his hospitalizations in "TV Or Not TV", "Fred's Cheating Heart" to understand what I am talking about. When he put scenes in the hospital, especially when Lamont came to see him. Did he put on any scenes here with I would say Cal visiting him. For example, did he go crazy over the nurse whether she was black or white.

Many Thanks to anyone who answers these questions. Sorry I am asking a lot, but all answers are greatly appreciated. I wish TVLand would of shown this show when they had their Screen Gems Deal. It would of been great to see. I am dying to see this series and hopefully it will get a Complete Series DVD release soon. Thanks to anyone who answers my questions and I look forward to all responses.

Question 1-The opening credits had the same theme music but just showed clips from episodes of the shows unlike Sanford and Son. Closing Credits had the same theme song too with Rollo and Cal unloaded the Truck while Fred watched.

Question 2-Cal was an extrmely overweight White Guy from Texas

Question 3-Fred and Cal's Scenes together mainly consisted of Fred making fun of Cal's Weight.

Question 4. The heart attack episode was somewhat serious but not tyhat dramatic. There were still funny scenes in the hospital. Cal also tells Fred once he arrives home from the hospital that he can no longer have fake heart attacks.

I also wanted to let you know that Sanford was not a spinoff. It was just a 80's version of Sanford and Son with a replacment for Lamont. There were only 2 spinoffs for sanford and son. GRADY and SANFORD ARMS

I also believe in the opening credits they showed Fred's truck. It had the standard S&S logo on the door but with the "and Son" crossed out.

As far as how he looked, you can see him in the Billy Crystal movie Father's Day. He was the guy who helped the kids dad get out of the port-o-john when it fell down the hill. He was also in Son In Law with Pauly Shore. He was the conniving farm hand who tried to set up Pauly and help the jock guy win back the girl. In both of these movies he doesn't look like he did on Sanford. When you see him, just add a beard and longer hair. I glanced over his resume at IMDB.com and it seems Sanford may have been the most noteworthy and memorable part of his career.
