The Los Angeles Daily News, printing an entertainment article by TV critic David Kronke last week, mentioned this in passing: ...Alan Spencer, creator of the '80s cult-hit sitcom "Sledge Hammer!" has been preparing his series' impending DVD release... Wow, that certainly takes us by surprise! A pleasant one, to be sure. We will keep a sharp eye out for more information, and post it as soon as we get it. Our thanks go out to Mr. Randy A. Salas, DVD Columnist and the Entertainment Wire Editor at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, for bringing the quote to our attention. |

We entitled our previous Sledge Hammer news item "In The Works?". Apparently the answer is "no", after all.
SledgeHammerOnline.com's Sledge-On-DVD community forum, under the topic "News report regarding dvd release", Alan "SpencerSteak" Spencer had this quick reply: Premature Enunciation As far as my article that was quoted, I've had a variety of discussions with distributors... and that was a comment that came up but we're not committed to anything as yet. Nothing is a "done deal" with dates pending, which is why it is important to keep going with the petition. That quote from me was a way of keeping the show out there for all of you. This is a disappointment, we realize, to everyone who got their hopes up. We at TVShowsOnDVD.com apologize (believe me, printing retractions to news items is our least favorite thing to do!). But keep in mind that Alan's intentions were good. We encourage everyone interested in this show to stop by the SledgeHammerOnline.com community forum mentioned above, and find the thread called "Name collection/petition for Sledge on dvd!!!". Oh, and while you're there, encourage fans there to swing over here and vote. It sure couldn't hurt. Our thanks to "GC" for directing us to Alan's response. |

According to a post by Alan Spencer on the sledgehammeronline.com site, Sledge Hammer fans won't have to wait too long for the show to come out on DVD. Spencer says he hopes to have the first season out in the next 5 months. Spencer also promises the episodes won't be trimmed, and he'll try and restore missing footage to the pilot episode. Sounds good to me! |
