Default Committed "The Morning After" Episode Talkback

Tonight's episode:

Quote:
OH HAPPY DAY--Marni (Jennifer Finnigan) and Nate (Josh Cooke) sleep together for the first time and "the morning after" turns out to be less than the romantic day they envisioned it would be. It starts to fall apart when Marni's dad decides to talk to her about abandoning Marni and her family before leaving on a trip to Asia. Elsewhere, Tess (Tammy Lynn Michaels) offers to help Nate out by delivering the record store keys to Bowie (Darius McCrary) downtown, so Nate can spend the day with Marni. Clown (Tom Poston) is determined to make Nate laugh by performing some of his circus routine.

I didn't really care for this one.

The whole morning after story was just blah. It was probably way too early to spring Marni's dad on us, since we don't know the character well enough for it to carry any emotional heft. It didn't help that it wasn't really very funny, either.

Tess and Bowie's plot just meandered. First, it's about the keys. Then it's about "this baby bag makes people like you." Then it's about the keys again. It's like they slapped together two unrelated plots that couldn't hold a B story on their own.

The Clown subplot was so nonexistant it's barely worth commenting on. Apparently, a couple of throwaway lines at the beginning episode about how "Jewish people don't laugh" is considered a plotline for this character. He didn't even perform any of his routine. I hope they do something with Clown soon, because otherwise he's just dead weight on the show.

I thought the first couple of episodes were pretty good. Since then the humor has become very corny and halfway through last night's episode we decided ENOUGH. I shut the TV off and said goodbye to this show forever. The writers didn't have enough material for five good shows.

I don't think it will be very long before this one gets canned.

This was probably the weakest episode of the series to date. There were some good laughs but the episode overall did not fit together correctly. Even while laughing I knew something was wrong. Maybe next week's episode will be better, or maybe the unusual nature of the show is (already) beginning to wear off.

This was a good episode but just some stuff was stupid like Marni and her father. He sings the titanic song and oh everything is okay with them again. Then he isn't ready for the father/daughter commitment so he runs away again?!!?! Huh!?!?! Marni also runs away from her dad what?!!?! Stupid.. When they talked about the other Marni that was funny. The only good parts of this episode was the keys for the shop. The nanny throws the keys for Bowie to catch but ends up in a cab and then when she tries again later it goes in another cab ROFL.

The clown was funny. He made me laugh.
