Today I picked up my copy of "Home Movies Season 1," and boy am I happy.
I've had high praise for other animated shows, but this is probably my favorite one. For those not in the know, "Home Movies" was a short lived UPN toon that found new life on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim." It is a really funny show, featuring a great voice cast doing mostly improvised dialogue. Brought to you by the folks behind Comedy Central's "Dr. Katz," (featuring the same "squigglevison" computer animation) "Home Movies" stars imaginative eight year old film maker Brendon (Brendon Small) and his best friends Melissa and Jason as they make thier wild home movies in Brendon's basement. Jason's harried single mom Paula (Paula Poundstone) is around for support, and Brendon's soccer coach John McGirk (Jon Benjamin - a comic genius) is on hand to dispense bad advice and even worse soccer tips. Truly one of the most underappreciated animated shows in recent memory, this show has cult classic written all over it. Highly reccomended folks, go get it. Now if they will only put "Dr. Katz" out on DVD.

I like Home Movies, but not Dr. Katz. I love South Parks' spoof of Katz though.
