I think it definitely gave the viewers a 180 degree turn about the show. No one was expecting that to happen.
Can't wait to see Dede #3 |

Truthfully, I don't like the fact that she's pregnant. I don't even like the fact that she's still married to the father, probably because I'm a Phyllis/Mona fan. Not to be mean or anything, but I just don't see her actually having the baby, probably what's going to happen is near the end of the season she will lose it and they will have a couple of episodes of her and everyone coping with the loss, who knows maybe her and Phyllis will actually bond again. Plus new babies usually ruin a show anyway and they are only in the second season so hopefully they won't go that far, but I could be wrong.

I am curious to see what happens myself. BTW, I'm a Mona/Phyllis fan myself.

I admit I was wrong. Having the baby didn't ruin the show at least not yet. I'm glad they don't let the baby take over episodes like they usually do in other sitcoms. Actually they haven't even mentioned him in the last few episodes so that's a good sign, but it could be a bad sign also cause next time we see him, he might be 5 years old.

I'm guessing that Valarie Pettiford had a baby in real life so they wrote it into the plot, otherwise it is a very weird storyline. Actually from what little I saw of this show in year 2 they could have said Big Dee wasn't pregnant because she wasn't really that big, they could have dressed her in looser clothes etc but I guess they thought it would be a good storyline.
Am I the only one who thinks that she and Obba Babatunde are more interesting than the daughter characters? Some critic who reviewed this show said that if this show came on 15 years ago the mothers would be the leads. I think the parents are more interesting to watch than the kids who seem very cliched and predictable. It is obvious that Mona and Spencer are going to eventually end up being a couple. They are just dragging it out. the younger sister looks good and all (well from the neck down anyway) but that is about the extent of her appeal. |
