Title: Not A Time To Cry

Author's Note: This is a re-write if a I did for Third Watch.

Spoilers: Written for season two

Summary: Life chances for CD

Rating: PG-13

"CD, baby, are you aright in there?" Brian never heard someone throw up so much in his life. She had thrown up seven times in the last hour.

"I'm fi..." before she could finish she was throwing up again. Brain walked up behind her and handed her the glass of water. She hesitated before taking the glass, not knowing if she was able to hold down a glass of water. "Thank you, baby.” She said, then slowly drank the water and the place the empty glass next to her, she then rested her head on the bathtub, and thanked god that she didn't have to work today she was so exhausted she would be surprised if she could even stand lead alone work.

Brain stood there looking at her hoping she was well enough to tell him what to do. He never took care of a sick person before. Well he did but the person was his son, and he had a feeling taking care of CD would be different then taking care of Michael. CD lifted her head from the tub and attempted to stand up when she began to fill dizzy. She quickly grabbed a hold on the sink to steady herself. Brain hurried to her side when saw her threading to fall. He took her hand hoping it would help her fine her balance.

"You okay?" he asked nervously with a scared look on his face. She smiled when she saw the look on his face; he was actually worried about her to the point it scared him.

"Brain, don't worry I'm fine. Just a little dizzy that's all. She gave him a small smile. Brain didn't exactly believing her but nodded anyway. "Could you just help me back to bed?" CD’s asked shyly embarrassed on how weak she was.

"Sure" he said and then quickly got a mischievous grin on his face. Before CD knew it, Brain had picked her up started to walk out the bathroom.

"What do you think your doing?" CD laughed with a big grin on her face.

"I'm helping you to the bedroom." He said as innocent as possible. "This is how I help you there last night "He said with a wink, she blushed. He carefully places her on the bed. "Can I get you anything? Like something to drink? Some medicine? Both?

"No, I'm fine. I'm going to take nap I have to meet Magda in three hours for lunch.

" You should really cancel, your really sick baby, you need to rest."

" No really I'm fine plus the fresh air will do me some good."

"Okay but you have to promise you go see a doctor if you don't start to feel better soon."

" I hate doctors." CD whined

"I know but promise me."

" Okay I promise." CD said looking down at the sheet.

"Uh sorry CD that's not going to work, look me and my eye and promise me." Nate said sarcastically.

"Okay, Okay I promise." He leaned over and places a soft kiss on her lips.

"Get some rest. I'll be in living room if you want me okay."

"Okay."

CD pulled up in front of Magda’s house around 10:30. She walked up to the door and knock and moments later was greeted by Magda with a big smile on his face.

"Hey Magda, you ready?" CD asked when Magda stepped a side and let her walk through the door.

"Yeah, hold on I just gotta get my coat?" She said smiling back at her.

“Okay. What are you so happy about?” CD asked her with an odd look.

“Nothing really. I’m just happy to have a day off for once.” she said grabbing her coat walking to the door

“Me too. How often does that happen?”

“Not often enough,” she said following CD out the door.

"You okay?" Magda asked concern at how distant CD looked, when they got in the car.

"Yeah, fine just got something on my mine it's all"

"Okay. So where do you want to eat?"

"I don't know. Does the lagoon sound good to you?

"Yeah fine" Magda said with concern still present in her voice. " CD you know you can talk to me if something is bothering you."

"Yeah. That's why I called you, but can't it wait until we get to the restaurant?" she asked not taking her eye off of the road, when she pulled away from the curb.

“Yeah, okay." Magda tried not to worry too much about what CD had to talk to her about but the fear was visible on her face while CD drove. CD glanced over and noticed the look on Magda's face "Magda, what I have to tell you is not bad okay, don't worry so much." she gave her a reassuring smile.

"Oh, okay, sorry."

They were in the restaurant for around ten minutes when Magda leaned over and softly said "CD, what was it that you wanted to talk to me about?" CD looked down at the table then at CD before answering.

"I...I don't know who else I could talk to about this but it's still kind of hard me to...um say." Magda looked at her confused she thought CD said the thing she had to talk to her wasn't bad.

"CD what ever it is you know I'll help you as much as I can."

"I know and since you're the only person that I told about me and Brain getting back together. You're the only one I could tell, ask about this..." she pause and took a deep breath and look Magda straight in the eye "I'm pregnant" Magda smiled and exhaled she was expecting much worse.

"CD that's great! Right?"

"Yeah! It's wonderful I just don't know how to tell Brain."

"You don't know how to tell him?”

“No. How did you tell Gabe?”

“I didn't, my mom did. I was 24 but she still treated me like a little girl. When I told her I was pregnant she dragged me over to Gabe's place and yelled at both of us like we were some dumb teenagers."

"Oh. That must have been embarrassing. "

"Yeah it was. The next day Gabe was nowhere to be found"

“That’s what I’m afraid of.” CD admitted

“You think he’s gonna leave you?”

“I don’t know. The first time we broke up was because he found out I couldn’t have kids.”

“But...” she started confused but CD cut her off.

“He changed his mind about wanting more kids. He said we both have demanding jobs and it probably was a good thing we couldn’t have kids cause we could spent what little time we have together.” Magda nodded her head showing that she understood.

“Why can’t you have kids?”

“I had my tubes tie.”

“That’s not a hundred percent?” Magda asked baffled.

“Nothing is.”

“True. Well how do you feel about this?”

“I want it I know that for sure.”

“But…”

“I’m not sure there is a 'but'.”

“Good, because if you want this baby that’s all that matters. So how far a long are you?"

"Six Weeks."

"Well we don't have long to come up with a plan before you start showing." Magda said with a grin. Magda love that she could help CD because to tell the truth CD and Jinny was her only female friends at work and to be honest she knew she would never really do "baby stuff" with Jinny.

"We have less time then you think. Brain made me promise that if I didn't feel better soon I would go see a doctor with him. Knowing Brain, that’s less than a week.

"Oh, well don’t have to work today.”

"Thanks but you know you don't have to waste your day off with me." Magda looked at CD confused

"Spending my day with you is not wasting it, plus if I wasn't spending my day with you I probably would have to clean my house. So like I said we have the rest of the day." Magda said in a firm tone of voice.

"Okay, sure"

Magda looked down at her watch. “It’s 11:45 how about we get the check and head over to the mall before I have to pick up Ben."

"Sure. Sounds great." CD said smiling she knew Magda was the only person beside Nate and Brain she could show her girlie side to without getting crap about it.

As they got to the car CD started to feel sick again "Magda to be on the safe side why don't you drive." CD said trying her best to keep her food down. Magda nodded as she notices that CD’s face had turned pale.

"Sure thing. But do you mind if we stop by my place so I can take a shower?" Magda asked. During lunch the new waiter accidentally spilled a bit of soup on her.

"I don't mind.”

They drove in a comfortable silence until Magda looked over at CD still looking sick. "Hey soon as we get to my apartment why don't you lay down for awhile. It could do you some good." Magda said softy

"No I'm fine, just a little nauseous that's all. It will past." CD lied she did want to lay down for awhile but didn't want to bother Magda anymore then she already had.

"I'm not taking no for an answer besides you might as well get soon rest while you can. How many days do you get a break from your job and Brain?" Magda said in a mothering tone trying to convince CD to rest down for awhile.

"Okay, Okay mommy what ever you say." CD joked with a small smile.

"CD you can lay in my couch while I get ready." Magda said opening the door to her CD nodded and followed her in. Magda leaded CD to the living room. “"I'll try not to be long." Magda said as CD took her coat off.

"Take your time."

About an hour later Magda walked out of the bathroom fully dressed then walked down to the living room to find CD snoring softly. Magda couldn't bring herself to wake her up she looked so peaceful. It was only 1:20 she had plenty of time to sleep. While CD slept Magda decided to straighten up her house a little. Another half hour past, Magda figured that it would take her an hour to go get Ben from his school and come back so she wrote CD a note saying she would be right back and she said she would have woke her up but she looked too relaxed. Magda put the note on the table in front of the couch and headed out the door. CD woke up forty-five minutes later to find her self in an unfamiliar place. She didn't remember where she was until she noticed a picture of Ben on the table beside her. She slowly set up and then noticed the note that Magda left to her, she read it and smile. She never realized what a good friend Magda was until now.

Magda and Ben came back 10 minutes after CD woke-up they quietly tip toe in not knowing if CD was up or not. CD saw them crept in and decided to have a little fun and made her way from the living room to behind Magda and grabbed her from behind. Magda jumped and screamed CD and Ben both broke out into a laughing fit. Magda turned around to see the big grin on CD's face she smiled back seeing she was feeling better.

"That was not funny." Magda said laughing holding her chest.

"Your laughing sure fooled me." CD said trying to control her laughter.

"Yeah mom she got you good." Ben said with a big grin. CD looked down at Ben.

"Don't you look handsome in your little uniform?" CD said finally controlling her laughter. Ben straightened up his tie and smiled.

"Thank you, Thank you very much." Magda and CD both looked at each other and started laughing.

"You act more and more like you father everyday." Magda said between laughs.

With a smile still on his face he gave his mom a wink and then walked down the hall to his room to change his clothes. Both women looked at the 7-year-old boy in disbelief before breaking out in laughter yet again.

"If Gabe had that effect on Ben what will Brain do to this baby?" CD chuckled.

"Oh god I could just see it now your baby's is gonna be able to do legal briefs before his first birthday" Magda smiled

"You know what you probably right." She said shaking her head. "Hey you minded if I use your bathroom?"

"No go right head."

"Thanks. Be right back." CD said as she made her way to the bathroom.

Three minutes later Magda looked down at her watch. "Come on you guys. Ben if you don’t want Abdula to leave you. You two better get a move on." Magda said in warning tone, waiting at the door. CD came out the bathroom a minute later.

"Sorry mommy I had to go." CD smiled

Two minutes later Ben jointed them by the door wearing a pair of dark blue jeans and a red T-shirt.

"Now can we leave?" Magda said opening the door.

"Yeah let's go” Ben said excited then ran out the apartment as soon as Magda open the door.

Magda tried handing CD the keys as they walked towards where Ben ran. CD just pushed Magda’s hand back toward her "Why don't you drive the rest of the day."

"Why are you starting to feel sick again?" Magda asked concerned

"No it’s just to be on the safe side okay. I swear you worry as much as Brain probably more." She said with a chuckle.
