Default The Brussel Sprout argument

I decided to write the Brussel Sprout episode the way I think Ward should have handled it. For once I thought Ward should act a little like his father was known to be like. I thought it might be a little fun to put him somewhat out of character just for this because this is one of the few episodes that had me irritated with June. So enjoy!

June(clearing dishes) Beaver, eat your brussel sprouts please. No excuses please.
*Ward and Wally talking over the football game they are going to see the next night.*
Beaver(sticking sprouts in his pocket)
June(enters) Beaver! (pulls sprout out) Ward, don't you have something to say?
Ward: About what honey?
June: Well if you weren't so busy discussing baseball then you would see that he is stuffing brussel sprouts in his pocket!
Ward(smiles) Football honey and Beaver you shouldn't do that.
June: You eat them Beaver! Ward tell him to eat them.
Ward(looks up) Eat Beaver. (goes back to talking to Wally)
June: Ok! You are not leaving this table until you eat them!
Beaver(whining) But mom, I don't like them!
Ward: June if he don't like them then perhaps..
June: perhaps nothing! He's going to eat them, Wally you can come back down for your desert later.
Wally(getting up) Yes mom.
Ward(looks at Beaver and gets up to go talk to June)Honey, don't you think you are making a mountain out of a brussel sprout?
June(firm) No I don't. I could have used your help but all you were doing was talking about basketball!
Ward(aggrivated) Football woman! We were talking about football! And I did tell him to eat!
June(raising her voice) I don't care what kind of ball it was! I wanted you to back me up!
Ward: I always back you up even when your wrong!
June: Ward! Do you think I'm wrong about wanting him to the proper foods?
Ward: No but you don't need to force him to eat something he doesn't like! And you are wrong for talking to me the way you are!
June(shocked) What do you mean!?
Ward(yelling) I mean I'm the man of this house and you are overstepping! You will lower your voice right now and quit underminding my authority in front of the boys!
June(shocked) Ward Cleaver in all our years of marriage you never said anything like that to me!
Ward: That's because you have never talked to me like this and it will stop! Or else...
June(sarcastically) Or what?
Ward(look of authority) Or I'll just do what my father did when my mother got out of line.
June: And what was that?
Ward: I'll put you across my knee!
June(shocked) You wouldn't dare!
Ward(firm look) Oh I wouldn't? You just keep pushing it!

Beaver and Wally listening at the door.
Wally: See what you caused by being a baby!
Beaver: I can't help it, I just don't like them. Shhhh....(listening)

*in kitchen*
June(walks in the dining room) Ok Beaver,if you don't eat those you won't go to the game with us tommorrow night.
Ward: Go to your room boys, and Beaver you will go to the game.
June(verge of tears) How could you?
Ward: I told you that you are not to undermind me!
June(staring to cry) Ward, you can't spank me I'm your wife not your child!
Ward(softens and puts his arms around her) Honey, I'm sorry I should'nt have said that,I was just angry and I thought if I said that then you would come to your senses.
June(sobbing) I'm sorry I talked to you that way.
Ward(comforting her) It's ok honey, shhh..
Beaver(walks in) Mom, I'm sorry I caused an argument between you and dad.
June: That's ok Beaver, I made a mistake by trying to make you eat something you don't like and your father taught me that. I agree that you will go to the game.
Beaver: I never have to eat them?
June(smiles) No honey, you don't.

I hope you enjoyed my version of the brussel sprouts episode. I was dying to write Ward as a caveman type husband just once!

I liked it! That's how most husbands of that era would have handled it, but not Ward! That was really good! Could you write another fanfiction?

And they pull me behind, as I let off the pedal.
Why should I divide what feels so right?
Is this where I want to lay?

That's why I wrote Ward that way in this fanfic. I loved Ward but I just think that they made him too soft in some episodes such as this one. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm sure I can think of another one soon.
